ONE YEAR + two weeks
 

I just realized that I hit the one year alcohol free mark on August 17th!!! I haven’t posted much lately but I’ve come to SR quite a bit during the past few months seeking encouragement and support by reading what others have posted.

For those who don’t know, I came to SR because I was concerned about my son’s drinking. I also admitted that I had experienced a period of heavy drinking during my divorce a few years earlier, but had returned to “normal” social drinking without any apparent problems. Someone challenged me to give up the booze to provide my son with a sober role model and I quit on the that night. It’s been a little over a year and I can honestly say that I don’t miss drinking at all.

And just in case anyone is wondering how my son is doing, he’s been sober most of the past year as well. (He’s slipped a couple of times but climbed right back on the wagon.) Thank you for the support that you’ve given me.
