I've Returned
I'm back, I had originally joined ages ago, with high hopes ave spirits, thinking I could tackle recovery. I was wrong. Very, very wrong. I was sober for six months, a dual addict, and then fell back into the cycle of coke and booze.
But then I couldn't drink booze, my doctor had put me on medication that would react horribly if one drank (I'd say use that in place of antabuse, probably work just the same), so I switched to meth. It only took less than two months to get hooked, six to lose almost everything.
My husband and I are both addicts, we've been clean for over a week and a half now, two weeks before that, and two months before that. I burned bridges with everyone I knew that used. I took away everyone that could be a trigger, even my supports, and kept with solitude. So far, we're working, it seems like things are almost normal again.
I decided to return because a day after my husband lost his job (as a result of both drugs and a condition called rubber foot), I got an email from SR. I think we're ready again.

Much appreciated, everyone. I woke up with major night sweats and cravings yesterday. I attribute it to both menopause and drugs. I started into meth when I started my hormone treatment. I have a condition called poly cystic ovarian syndrome, and because I've had so many surgeries, they can't operate to do a full hysterectomy, so I was put into menopause (I'm 28, for clarification), and I think I started those illicit drugs to cope with something that I wasn't ready for. I go in once a month, have a very painful shot, and I take hormones for the rest of my life now.
It's a little depressing, but it's nice to put a little weight back on. My husband seems to be having almost zero difficulty, but he's not as open about this stuff as I am. So thank you for the support.
