Hi Adelina

There are a lot of methods to help you get and stay sober, all of which discussed in these forums, but the starting point is always the same. You have to want to stop. You've now made that decision so you're already on the right path!

For me, what helped the most was reading about AVRT here. Did an Internet search on that and found the Crash Course. Read it, and finally made the decision to stop. That was around 3 months ago and I haven't had a drink since. The reason I mention this is a couple of times you said how strange it is that logically you know you have to stop, but you keep doing it. AVRT offers an explanation for why that is, based on how our brains work, and offers strategies for how to cope with it, in a way that made a lot of sense to me. Might be worth checking that out.

Good luck with whatever approach you take.

Welcome Adelina. You've found a great community that has tremendous support.

You're definitely not alone and most all of us can relate to what you are feeling. I know I can.

Lean on us as much as you need. Most importantly, don't drink today. You can do this.

Welcome

Welcome to SR adelina

this place is not just for those who have quit - it's very much for those trying to quit as well.

Why not check out our brand new Class of September 2015 support thread?

Great to meet you adelina! I hadn't quit when I first joined either, but before long I found the encouragement I needed to stop. You are never alone.

congrats Adelina and Tobasco.
Day 1 is where we all started. Suggest you join the September group. You will have many others that have made the decision to share your journey with. This is one of so many forums that you can get help and encouragement.
Looking forward to hearing of your recovery.
