1 week - better than 0 weeks

1 week in, feeling great! Not a long time, but getting over the hump of a weekend is huge. Congrats to everyone out there that made it through the weekend unscathed!

Thanks everyone. Weekends have brought previous sobriety attempts to a crashing halt. This weekend I went over to a friend's for dinner and out to a show the next night where everyone around was drinking felt great about it for the first time. All positive developments in my opinion.

how do you make it through the weekend when all your friends/family drink? I will be all alone, every weekend. for me, sober life is a lonely life. but i guess worse is....drunk life is a sick life. being alone is the most terrifying for me.

The first times I tried to quit it was really hard. But this time, maybe I am just finally in the right mindset, but so far it hasn't been difficult. I looked back at notes I took a few months ago when i went 29 days sober and it was really really hard then. Not as much now. I think it is just all a different mindset this time. So far.

Your Getting it Beeraholic , well done .

In my opinion a performing alcoholic is a lonely person . Its not easy staying topped up with booze . On the last day of my last binge from our hotel room my wife asked me to call a taxi at the bar at 8.30am to get us to the train station . I had 2 double vodkas while doing so . How lonely is that while the rest of the guests are drinking coffee and tea .
