Amen. Waking up and feeling fine is the biggest benefit of sobriety.

The best feeling! Not having to worry about having head aches and being over the limit to drive etc! Love it!

14 mornings so far w/no hangover and it feels great! On some of those mornings I've had to remind myself why I don't feel like crap, "Wait, I don't have a headache?" and it's become such a positive way for me to start the day...knowing that I did not drink.

YAY to waking up sober!

This is so worth repeating!!!

I haven't woken to a hangover in more than 600 days and every single time I don't wake up to a hangover is a glorious miracle.

Even on the most trying of days, I can always start out grateful for that!

That's awesome Jezza. I was thinking that this morning too. Craving coffee as opposed to something less rational this morning. And hot yoga in an hour! Wahoo.

I agree so much!!!

No hangover is THE BEST!!!

Every time I drank I would have hangovers from hell which would leave me out of commission for an entire day, sometimes 2.

Sober life rocks!!!

I got sober two years nine months ago....I STILL love and appreciate the feeling of waking up without negative consequences of my drinking! Just this morning I drove past a bar parking lot I used to frequent and saw a lot of cars in the lot in the early morning; it made me think about how grateful I am to not have to "wonder" where I left my car!

Wonderful post!! The sleep is something for the life of me, I never anticipated! What a gift. Waking up w/o a hangover, without my heart racing...literally thinking of a drink first thing in the morning. I lived with it for so long that I just begin to think of it as normal.

One thing I wonder about though when I look around at people in coffee shops (like I happen to be doing right now). People who have never been alcoholics or lived with the disease, do they appreciate this feeling like the ones of us on this site seem to?

I wish there wasn't such a bridge between those feelings (waking up sober) and waking up drunk, meaning withdrawal.

It's nice to sleep mostly through the night and wake up awake and not running to the bottle.

At least you and others leave their cars. I was mostly a home-alone drinker. Is this a common thing and is it done out of feeling responsible for your actions or is it just people going home and hooking up with others/
