relaps

I relapsed after 5 years sober. It was a dumb experiment with social drinking on a date. Here I am 10 months later and can't stay sober. I am really afraid at this point. I am sober today and would like to stay that way. Can anyone relate to this?

I thought the same after being sober for 13 years. You have the opportunity to end this drinking; you know it is possible and that you can do it. My relapse let to a lot of long lasting and permanent damage to my physical self. I hope you plan on sticking around and posting often

I can't relate to the part of having 5 years' Sober , but I can by way of having 8 months & trying moderation . Because the person I was with could be a social drinker . I lost my 8 months , followed with 4 months of drinking heavier than ever. Ruined my esophagus & stomach so bad I can't enjoy foods I loved . For him to leave me cause he couldn't deal ..
If nothing else think of your Health , once that's gone . It's even harder to get out from under That Beast .
Grab back onto your plans & tools you had for those 5 years . Do what ever it takes . Yes it will be hard , but better than battling with poor health
SR is always here - You can fight this !!

Welcome, Rebekah, to SR; very glad that you found us.

The support here is wonderful. You may wantnto joining the Class of August. Weasel has a great Weekender's thread. There is also a 24 Hour Recovery Connection thread for daily commitments to sobriety.

Again, welcome.

Can definitely relate.
Can't relate to the 5 years yet, though.
Still trying for 1 year.
5 years was a great achievement on your part.
Time to scrap the 10 months and go for another 5 years.

Hi and Welcome Rebekah

I can certainly relate to returning to drinking and finding it so much harder to stop.

The support and understanding in this place really helps.
Congrats on day one

Welcome. I relapsed after 18 months, when I was younger. Ruined my marriage, and drank for 20 more years. Do whatever you need to do to get sober again. Once you do you will get back on track quickly. Just don't wait. Wishing you the best.

Very curious about the damage caused...why you think it happened...generally what/how much alcohol you drank...how long?.....

Thanks for posting threads like this. When I have thoughts like tonight (maybe just one drink after take off) I think about threads like this and say - only if you want it to go back to the way it was - if not don't pick up the first one.
