Dry

I just finished the audiobook of Dry. The book was phenomenal. I imagine it would hit home even harder for a gay alcoholic, but as straight alcoholic it was inspirational and entertaining. Highly recommended.

I'm glad you like the book. I did, too.

Have you seen our Book List?

I've listened to Dry several times. I really enjoyed it too. I've also recently read "drunkard" but parts of it were kinda hard for me so I had to skip those pages.

I found Dry to be a very powerful book. I read it the first time before I sobered up and thought it was okay, read it again a few months after sobering up and I was completely taken by it.

By having the two different perspectives each time I read it, it really showed me how different my drinking outlook and my sober outlook are.

I love my sober outlook so much better, think I will keep it

I have been fighting sobriety for months. Read it while still drinking and considering reading it again while actually sober. Thanks for the insight!

I was just reading through old posts and came across this one from almost a year ago.

This bout of sobriety ended after 33 days. But a few months later I started again and I'm at nine months and counting. I still listen to this book occasionally as well as others. Just finished sober stick figure, short and funny. Not amazing, but worth the short time it took to read.

Hope everyone is doing great!

What a trip. Here I thought that this whole thread was recent, and it was from a year ago - AND you have nine months under your belt. Congrats!

I'm going to look for Dry at my local library now. Thanks for the info, Beeraholic. Funny, beer used to be my main vice too. Now I can't stand the sight nor stench of the stuff.

That's awesome! I do that sometimes too -- think that a post is recent and then by the end I have gone on a whole journey.

Check it out, it is a fantastic book.
