Tomorrow is my first test
Well tomorrow is going to be a family and friends gathering at a summer house in the country. this party consist of alot of civilised drinking . of course declining is always OK, but you get a funny look, especially if its ME declining.
Oh well, lools like i am just gonna have to get funny looks tomorrow.
Wish me luck

Good luck. If you have the option, I'd take your own vehicle and have an escape plan should the cravings hit. Put your recovery first. There will be plenty of other family gatherings in your future and there's no shame in leaving if it keeps you from drinking. At the very least, stepping away and taking a long walk for 15-30 minutes could also be an option.
I'd bring your own non-alcoholic drink of choice as well. Keep it close at hand at all times. Also if you have a smartphone, pop in here when you can. Maybe use this thread as a base to check in every now and then and build some accountability.
You can do this! You don't have to take that first drink no matter what.

Thanks CaseyW ,
It will be very interesting too see what kind of cravings i get and how I should tackle them for future.
I find disassembling this whole "alcoholism and cravings and behaviors" and putting a question mark to every thing is helping me keeping focussed, another words if I analyze every tick, I feel better about it because I took the emotion away from it.
That's my findings anyway. Again though, till tomorrow

Hi Madruski -
I needed to sit out social gatherings until I got 100% comfortable with declining.
Early on I needed to protect my sobriety rather than test it.
If you are feeling at all ill at ease, then I would encourage you to bow out of the event. There will be many more.
Good luck.

If you're intent on going it's time to be a "non drinker", that's the viewpoint and perspective to go into it with, have an exit plan, and whoever you're going with make sure they know you're not drinking to have some accountability.
Hope it all goes well, but keep in mind we don't need to test or experiment with our Sobriety, there doesn't have to be any urgency, we can go at our own pace when we're truely ready!!

If you're intent on going, like other people have said, have an escape plan - even if you never use it.
Also role play various scenarios in your head - what if you're offered a drink, what if people ask you why you're not drinking. what if someone presses an alcoholic drink into your hand anyway, what about if you start to crave and think 'oh one won't hurt'?
that kind of thing

Social gathering went well, not a single drop there or at home afterwards. I will admit I was bored out of my wits half the time, but its better than drinking.
At one point I was offered a taste of the hosts special home beer, I declined even a sip and you should of seen the look of offense on his face Ha!
I knew though , that sip would of been glass, then vodka shot- then I would of thought " who cares I failed anyway, might as well get some beer for home" ...but nope, tomorrow I continue on sober
