How much did you consume?

I'm just curious as to how much everyone drank before you decided to stop, and how often. For me it was a pint of vodka daily or half of the pint bottle and 2/40 onces of 8.2% alcohol beer daily, if not more.

Any was too much for me. :( I drank two or three bottles of wine a day. :( So glad those days are over now.

racing22 08-12-2015 03:30 PM

I was at a pint and a half of vodka 4 days a week.

PurpleKnight 08-12-2015 03:33 PM

I remember a time when 2 beers was my night out, but those days are long gone!!

Fast forward 5 yrs and a half bottle of whisky a night was my evening routine.

For me I can point to how progressive alcoholism is and can become, I needed to pull the plug on my increasing consumption, as it started to take more and more to have the desired affect!!

Sobreity on the other hand was the option that drew a line in the sand!! :)

At the end - If I started when I got up . Which was daily around 6am. About 15 to 20 bud lights with a 1/2 to a whole pint of rum :(
I'm pretty sure the rum finished my esophagus off :takethis:

Not as much as I used to, but still most times it was more than I wanted to. 1-1.5, very rarely 2 bottles of wine, 9-12 cans of 4% beer or about 8 shots was more than enough to leave me feeling pretty horrible the next day. I would be unable to do anything except maybe watch movies to take my mind off it. Anywhere from 1 to 4 times a week, trying to stick to weekends only, sometimes lasted more than a week. The anxiety and depression were starting to get even worse than the physical hangovers, which were bad enough. What a relief to be away from that.

Austin4Wyo 08-12-2015 03:51 PM

At my worst, anytime I was conscious. Upwards of a liter of vodka a day for thirty or so days. It was ugly.

Hevyn 08-12-2015 03:59 PM

At my worst, I could drink a 30-pack of beer a day. I wish I was kidding. :( In the end, it never made me high or happy - just numb & stupid.

In my early drinking years it was nice, civilized cocktails or wine - but I abandoned them long ago.

Saskia 08-12-2015 04:01 PM

At my worst - one regular size bottle of wine per day.

Debbie329 08-12-2015 04:06 PM

Somewhere between more than a 6 pack but less than a 12 pack.....and then I'd have to skip my high blood pressure cause it has a diuretic in it and Id get severely dehydrated. Not everyday but on average a few times a week. It was definitely taking its toll. I've been told since I stopped drinking, my face is plumper and healthier looking, my skin color is good. I'm never red in the face. It's a real improvement.

16-18 bud lights per night, probably more on weekends .

Rio97 08-12-2015 04:11 PM

If I started early, that meant more than if I started later in the day. But I drank till I was drunk. Usually beer, but occasionally liquor, or both.

And I almost always drank till it was all gone, which meant daily store runs, to different stores of course. Was always a pain.

trachemys 08-12-2015 04:14 PM

At my worst, a quart a day. Every day.

TroyW 08-12-2015 04:20 PM

1L of whiskey every day for, well... basically the better part of 14 years. I guess wasn't always whiskey. Sometimes vodka, rum, gin, whatever. About 1L/day though.

The joys of working from home.

D122y 08-12-2015 04:34 PM

I drank day and night for a few days...when I was in my late teens. Camping w my family. We had dozens of cases of beer and hard liquor. We would spend 2 weeks at the lake.

My vision of an alcoholic was the bum passed out on the sidewalk....not that guy in the mirror everyday.

Truth.

From 2 o'clock I would watch the clock till 3. Stop by a store and buy a fifth of 151. That got me home on the gravel. Usually a jelly jar of beam and ice while I relaxed for a few then went outside to work on whatever projects I had going. Usually 8-12 beers screwing them up. Have finished one now and it went well. I quit Friday night. I picked the easiest one to finish though.

Just found out that was what I was doing. Noticed all the bottles and recites.

2WheelsGood 08-12-2015 04:40 PM

Some days only 4-5 drinks, others 2L wine or 600ml of vodka nightly. Sometimes 3x / week, sometimes every night. Near the end it was the latter.

edit+: That past year I knew I had a problem. Not because of the blackouts, or the screaming rants, or the new empty bottles on the counter in the morning. It was because I stopped having hangovers. To me that meant my body had adapted and my liver, pancreas, and stomach were throwing in the towel.

LBrain 08-12-2015 04:49 PM

enough to get me here...

BeanSkillet 08-12-2015 04:59 PM

Between 6-10 beers a night, combined with marijuana. Not a lot compared to some, but that's not the point. Like LBrain said, enough to know I had a problem.

soberclover 08-12-2015 05:40 PM

Too much......for me. I think it is important to remember that the AMOUNT a person drinks does not determine if a person is an alcoholic or not. It is the quality of life that we do not have when we drink as well as the inability to stop drinking despite the negative consequences of our drinking that determines if we are an alcoholic/problem drinker/whatever you want to call it.

Just had to say it.
