Wrapping up day 9 without drinking!! Had a past drinking buddy stop by and of course she had vodka in a water bottle as usual. Proud to say as hard as it was, I did not drink! I also realized it's not a safe idea to be around people that do drink, this early in my sobriety. She's already been hospitalized for pancreatitis and several other issues that stemmed from drinking. A big reason I decided to get sober. Needless to say, prayer has worked for me to stay sober! Stay strong my SR friends.

Definitely steering clear book! Yeah, the water bottle is to make people think it's water instead of vodka.

I used to know people who insisted that vodka was "safe" to put in their morning coffee because "it had no smell." I argued that it did have an odor, the odor of alcohol. At the time I was in one of my teetotaling periods. I actually had no clue I was an alcoholic, I just knew I felt better when I didn't drink. No recovery work occurred at all. I didn't drink for 2 years. Then in one instant I had a teeny tiny beer sampler and was immediately back to drinking just as much as I did before, like that dry period never even happened.

Good job not drinking with the friend. You may have to set some boundaries with her for a while.
