Interesting comment and agree. It's been said that chronic alcoholism leads to two paths: dementia or death.

One event in my life that really woke me up was watching a co-worker deal with her parents with alcoholic dementia. It's basically Alzheimers. One got to watch the other progress more quickly, but now they're both in nursing homes. She told me "They enjoyed life I guess. Always a drink in their hand, always throwing parties, always a couple of bottles of wine with dinner, always a nightcap, always boozing it up. .... It's too bad I now have to tie their shoes and they will be dead in a couple of years."

Yikes! Not all of us get a second chance.
