How do you know when you've truly found your higher power?

Idk, but I bet you know it when it happens. It sounds cerebral to me. I've got very little power right now and I'm looking for some power myself.

Making conscious contact - finding our HP - took consistent prayer for me. Maybe it can be thought of as a knob on an old radio that we are turning trying to get a signal we can understand. We might at first here some scratchy noise but if we keep seeking it becomes more clear.

As time goes on received more and more affirmations of God in my life. Asking for release from bondage of self, praying for directions to help others etc.

I was in the shadow of life and the lights get brighter and brighter.

It can for anyone when we truly have our hearts in the right place. When I get to the place where what I have in life is what I need that to me is being in balance with my HP. I am not talking about stuff........:)

I would also say that you will know it when you find it.

For me the the motivation or surrender needed to create Sobriety in my life, when I found it, I knew!! :)
