Best of luck. I found that early on I worried myself sick about a lot of things that ended up being not much to do at all. Hope that's the case for you too!

Ooops. Liver is under stress got level of 229 (normal range is in its 20's) sooo ive got to go for a scan and go back in six weeks to see if the liver is starting to heal. For some reason she testing me for hep c too? Proceedure apparantly. Now... let me tell you this the last time I had my liver checked it was normal and that was in March of this year. 5 months people 5 months and my liver function is abnormal. If that isnt enough to put you off drinking for life I dont know what is. I can't ever go back. Never. Ive been given a real chance here to sort myself out even MORE detirmined to stay sober. Without your health you have nothing.

I think there are a number of people here who saw their numbers go back to normal after they quit for a length of time.

Blueberry,

I had similar numbers. This means that you have to get sober now. It was easy to be "wishy washy" before I got my blood work done but then I was just committing suicide, knowingly.

You should be fine if you stop drinking.

I have been sober 13 months and I am fine. I literally can't drink anymore. I don't even miss it at this point.

Yes. I have often referred to my alcoholism as a slow suicide. By god I wish I saw it back then.

Guys nobody gets hep c from drinking.
Hepatitis means inflammation of the liver. Inflammation can be caused by alcoholism or hep of any kind.
But drinking does not cause hep c.
As far as I am aware, vaccinations are available for hep A and B.
I had a hep B vaccination years ago, they are several shots, staggered within a certain amount of time.

I would think it is wise to get vaccinated as hep can compound any kind of liver trouble due to drinking.

Blueberry, I also had high numbers and also cirrhosis. Fortunately my liver is very close to normal now. Staying off alcohol should make a real difference!

I don't know if it actually helped or not, but I really like the taste of a dandelion and milk thistle tea that I drank a ton of in my first few weeks. Maybe my body was craving whatever it was getting from it at the time.
