I'm sober &

Planning a visit from my ex as well as coping w\ cleaning dad's stuff !!!
My shrink has been worthless here though & plan on seeing her 1 last time before looking for another one. So far she's written meds that my insurance won't cover b\c of cost; therefore I've had to suffer through....

I'm finally jumping through the hoops I need to & still getting no where *sigh*

Why would a therapist sign you for meds that dont cover your insurance im uk and they just wouldnt do something like that. Is that a thing in america therapists prescribing meds that insurance doesnt cover sorry Dennis that you have had to suffer stick with it it sounds like early days but is there no other options so you can get meds that your insurance covers

Best wishes with the visit and cleaning your dads stuff

Hi Dennis, sometimes medical professionals prescribe expensive branded drugs because they are financially rewarded for doing so and because they are afraid of being sued

It might be worth researching non branded alternatives - it goes without saying you would have to have professional advice.

Is she aware of the terms of your policy, she might be able to find cheaper alternatives. I'm from the UK as well so not well placed to offer much constructive advice

I've had that problem with doctors and meds. Sometimes it's as simple as requesting the generic version. Not sure about psychotropics, though.

Hi August....I remember all the work you put into seeing s psych doctor.....don't give up.....just ask for something else that works similarly.......I take a generic psych pill and a generic sleeping pill as needed. It took the doctor a couple months to figure out what the magic formula was and now I feel great most of the time. Almost like before I started drinking. I was prescribed one pill the doctor explained it as a nutrition type of psych bill.....I couldnt afford that one and there is no substitute so I try to eat better. I know for me the meds have made a world of difference, people are always telling me I look good and an addict friend keeps asking what I'm taking.....so it must be working. I feel good and im not drinking.....do not give up!

Wolf, here in u.s. there are sooooo many different insurances and plans with different formularies the doctors absolutely cannot keep it straight. They usually write what they feel will work, then if pharmacy calls patient and says not covered, the patient should call dr. To ask for alternative.

August, you may also try website .of the drug you were prescribed. Many times there are coupons available, or patient assistance programs. Doesnt hurt to call the company and see if you qualify for patient assistance.

Keep pushing through Dennis, somtimes we can just get a few days that don't seem to be going our way, but in the grand scheme of things we're still on the upward swing!!
