What is a big plan?

I am new here and I saw on various posts the mention of a big plan. What is it exactly? Thank you,

A "big plan" is a commitment to never drinking again. It's not about trying to quit, or cutting back, or taking a break for a while. It's about making up your mind that you will never drink alcohol again. Ever.

Not to be confused with a "plan" which people here often ask each other about. A "plan" is simply an approach to staying sober. Things you plan to do with free time, what to do when a craving hits, which (if any) program/s you intend to use as support. That sort of stuff.

If you want to look into making a big plan your best bet is to read "Rational Recovery" by Jack Trimpey. I found reading the book to be helpful, but you could probably fast track it by doing some snooping around on google about AVRT (addictive voice recognition technique) which is the method that the big plan comes from. There is some good information about AVRT here on SR, too.

Welcome to SR, futureve!
