yes, i'm just not sure how to quit drinking. i have had a very ****** childhood, lots of counseling, i'm on prozac, but i feel like something very big is coming up (emotionally) and i dont' know how to stop drinking. i'm not stupid, i have bachelors' degree, i was a straight A student, and i know that drinking is stupid and doesnt solve any problems, but yet i still do it. i just dont' want to deal with whatever is coming up that makes me so sad and angry.

There are lots of people here and we can offer you some support and understanding. I don't believe any of us are stupid because we used alcohol to numb ourselves. And, we're all here for the same reason - to stop drinking and live a better life.

You're doing great on the message board by the way!

Hello Sandy!

Of course you are not stupid, smart people can be alcoholics, that's not the case. You need to get yourself some help, I think it is a hard thing to do own your own, you need help. Get yourself to a detox and then start going to meetings. Never be embarrassed for trying to get yourself together or just go to a meeting. You have to want to do it. Bless you.
