Back from the bar
Mission accomplished. Had a diet coke, did some networking with other contractors, gave the lady of honor a hug and some small talk. Snuck out a side door none the worse for the wear. Feels pretty good.
I also talked briefly with the wife of one of the contractors who I've heard had told a group of people 2 years ago that "Jeff is a raging alcoholic", I know this because my brother was in that group. Nice to see her wasted and I was was stone sober. Now, does that give me license to go tell the whole town she is a raging alcoholic? Of course not, and I won't do it. But that felt pretty good too.

Hopefully you're example might provide her hope for her own potential issues.
Good for you
