Starting over again,help

Hi I have been a heavy drinker for years and up until yesterday I had 10 months total abstinence, but a huge row with the wife while on holiday and I found myself at the shop buying vodka and downed it like it was water and it has instantly transported me back and 10months to day one, I have the pains and anxiety and the terrifying thought I can't stop, I hate myself so much I can't stop thinking about it I'm finding myself thinking of ways I can function again with alcohol, like it's a done deal and I won't be able to stop it's like it's been there all this time waiting to strike and now it's in charge again. My body and was so dependant on alcohol last time I spent 8weeks in hospital detoxing, I can't be back in that position can I? It sure does feel that way

Hi Steve,

I'm sorry you've decided to drink but have faith you can stop. You did it before and you can do it now. I kind of think you don't mean you spent 8 weeks detoxing, but perhaps you spent 8 weeks in rehab. I don't know if you need to do that again. It might be a good idea to talk to your dr.

Steve I'm sorry for the pain you're in right now - but you came here to talk it over. That's a sign that you want to fight this relapse. You can get back to where you were.

Welcome back Steve!!

You're not back completely at square one, you would have learnt a few things in those 10 Months, don't let things slip away, reapply what you learnt, get your plan together and draw a line under this detour off your recovery!!

You can do this!!

Welcome Steve

try not to panic - you may have re-lit the fuse to the dynamite but you can pinch it out again.

This can be a blip and not a catastrophe - you haven't lost anything you learned or achieved in those 10 months.

Not yet..

what kind of recovery plan have you been using for the last 10 months?

D
