Who is sober here?
Next week will be 11 months sober. I work at it every day, but more and more it becomes a joy to do the work, not a struggle or a sentence. My life is already much happier and much less of a struggle. I don't want to drink ever again, so I stay sober one day at a time.

Me.
6 months.
In those 6 months I've:
(1) Lost 52 pounds (I feel INCREDIBLE!)
(2) Quit taking blood pressure medicine
(my blood pressure is now BETTER than normal, with no medication. When I was drinking it was always sky high, even with medication.)
(3) Paid off all of my debt (except house and car)
(4) Landed my dream job!
I definitely prefer this life.
There's NO WAY I would go back to the old one.

I gain a lot from everyone here, whether they're drinking or not.
Some of my best teachers have in fact been folks still struggling.
I genuinely think I'd be missing out on a crucial part of my recovery if I just spoke to recovered folks.
Kinda like playing checkers with only the black pieces.
Not looking for an argument either - just sayin'

In two weeks, I'll have my second anniversary.
In some respects, I understand what you mean. I stayed close to my SR class for the first year, venturing into this forum only rarely as I wasn't sure how I felt about reading about shaky recovery and/or relapse. And I'm OK with that decision, but as Dee pointed out, there is a lot of wisdom here, too, and I know I missed out on it during that period.
