Favorite Summer Music Sober Weekender! July 31 until
It's been a while since we had a themed weekender. It might be time.
Summer, when school was out... music took over as a way to escape long hot days. It cemented in my head the angst of my youth. Little did I know those songs, when heard 30 years later, could transport me right back to when I first heard them.
A memory that always makes me smile was back in 72. School just let out for the summer. My mom picked me up in her brand new pea green 72 Chevy Nova. I was in the back seat. The smell of a new car. The freedom of school out. And Neil Young's Heart of Gold on the radio.
As we stay sober this weekend share some of your favorite summer music memories.
But wait? Can you hear it? I can... The sober bells of freedom are gonna ring over this summer concert!!!!

Welcome to your sober weekend!!

Morning gang. TGIT.
There is a lake in the town where I grew up. When I was little there was a 'beach' of sorts where it was popular to go on the weekends. On the way home we'd always stop for a treat. I usually got a yoo hoo, an ice cream sandwich , or one of those candy necklaces that made my neck sticky. The song I remember from those days is 'don't rock the boat'.....on am radio. Takes me back.

I'm on. Greetings everybody!!!
TGIT indeed Mark!!! (took me a while to work that out..)
I look forward to sharing our summer music memories, from our individual geographic and temporal zones.
I remember a summer when I was 13 or maybe 14 years of age that was defined by my new found love of all things heavy and thrash metal. I also inherited a vast collection of marvel comic books and spent many summer evenings seeking privacy on the roof of my parents garage, perusing the wonderful stories and art work. I think this was the first time I began to notice and be terrified of girls!! Such memories!!!
I hope you are all keeping well gang!!!

Good morning all!
Two songs immediately come to mind from summers 20 some years apart -- Summer in the City by the Lovin Spoonful, my summer of teenaged angst, and Love Shack by the B52s, singing along and seat dancing with my kids in the car as I drove them from one activity to another, mainly swimming lessons at the beach.
It's my Friday! Promising to be another gorgeous weekend. Let's stay sober out there.

wheels got recalled? sport it up weasel!
here's a tune I recall that when I hear it it takes me back to summer... I wouldn't call it a "favorite" but there are many songs that transport me back in time to a certain event or function or season...

Mungo Jerry, In the Summertime
I preferred the likes of Alice Cooper, T.Rex & David Bowie, but this is what comes to mind first when I think of summer way back then.

Ok - got one. This one takes me back to lying in bed listening to my transistor radio next to my head on my pillow, on summer nights when we lived in Florida.
