Dammit
This is why I am scared to death about taking that first drink. It will turn into a binge, until I pass out in bed. It sucks. I hope you recover quickly and are of sound mind to start again in the morning. It will be hell for you tomorrow and for the next few days again...take care.

Well, Jerry . . . I've seen many circumstances on SR like yours (including mine - I'm a Serial Relapser). All the advice about "toss the rest out" is good and well meaning advice. But I think if anyone should know that it's near impossible to "toss the rest out" it's the folks here on SR. Sure, toss it if you can, but alcoholics don't waste good booze. Whatever you choose to do, just get back on the road to recovery as soon as possible. I did, and fine people here are incredibly understanding, forgiving, and supportive.
I'm sorry you drank Jerry and I'm sorry your addictive self stopped you from posting here first. I hope you ended up pouring the rest away and I hope you'll be back soon with a tighter recovery plan, man.
You can do this - you just need to tweak a few things .
Frank when I was drinking I couldn't stop until all the alcohol was gone.
But I learned better in recovery.
It's not right to suggest to people they can't quit until it's all gone because I've seen it happen here, many times.
If we argue for our limitations, we become them.

I agree with you Dee. There have been a few times that I was able to stop drinking and pour the rest out, so it can be done. I have heard stories from people at AA meetings that managed to do it too. But it's been my experience that almost every time I start drinking, I'll keep drinking for a while before I stop. But I know everybody is different. John
Jerry: If you've poured the rest of it out then good for you! That's a start. If not, you'll probably have a headache in the morning. Try lots of orange juice and a vitamin pill. And do everything possible (and then some) to make sure that you don't give in to the AV's suggestion of some "hair of the dog" to "cure" headache, etc. You'll start to feel better in a few hours. If you drink again you're bound to feel worse, maybe a lot worse. When you feel better think back and see if you can get some idea of what brought on the relapse.

Pour out the rest , have some food and drink a butt load of water.
In the morning , decide to quit , for good. Say words like never, not ever again. And then pay attention to all the thoughts that percolate from those words, that's what you're up against. Also keep in mind that they are just thoughts , they do not have the power to make you take any action. It maybe the AV has a list of times/situations when drinking is doable, got to pare that list down, way down.
Eff it mood , boredom , anger, relaxation, celebration ect ad infinitum, off the list.
Rooting for ya
You have an AV, we all do, it's still not an excuse though.

Right now I'm floating at the point where there is no concrete, actual self that you can point to. Try it, it won't work. Every time you thought "I..." you referred to nothing. This separate entity called "I" does not exist.
There you go. A spiritual revelation while being drunk. And a headache.
I'll be fine.
