'But, she's still a Gorilla...'

Got the spiffy new Camping Trailer home safely, and hooked up to Lextrons [A.C. Power].

Going to bed so here is a bed time story.
I used to let my pig sleep on the bed before he was too heavy to pick up. One night I was awoken to the loudest scream I had ever heard. It was so loud it made my ear drums crackle. I was terrified and it was pitch black. Jump up and turn the light on to discover that my pig had rolled off the bed and gotten himself stuck between the bed and bedside table on his back. His legs were sticking staight up in the air and he was screaming bloody murder. It was halarious. He sure was lucky his dad was around.
Have a nice evening everyone.
Sweet dreams.

Have fun on the trip Brynn. Sounds nice.

Squealing pigs in the middle of the night in the dark does not sound so nice. That would have freaked me out. I picked up a pet rabbit we had once as he tried to bolt and he screamed. It was the worst sound ever.

Tetra, I'm glad that you had a good experience while house minding while everyone was on vacation. And work will miss you. Already do. That says a lot.

Angie, congrats on almost there 90 days. That's terrific!

Time to start settling myself for the night.

Brynn ~

The standard Colorado Greeting is 'Hey, how's Ouray'? Hee hee...

Stayed down there for my B Day last year. See the Snow in mid May. Amazing area. We call the area 'Little Switzerland' because the Mountains are relatively new in Geologic Time. This causes one to meet lotsa Swiss and German and other Fer_ners who go there year after year. The Highway to there from Silverton from the South is a real Knuckle biter. Steep as all get out, but perfectly safe. It's called the 'Million Dollar Highway' because that's supposedly what it cost to build/Mile. Old Mines, and Mining Lore, all about. RoughAzz Life way back when...

Our Motel was reasonably priced, and had Hot Springs/Tubs right on site. I'll PM it, if you like, after digging up the name. Easy Peasy...

The original 'True Grit' was filmed not that far away, on some huge, old Ranches. Rent it to get a pre-Trip dose of the area.

VERY memorable...

Charlie....that was a really nice, heartwarming post. I'm glad that you are choosing to stay on the sober bus. There are plenty of ways to celebrate without booze. Why ruin a feel good afternoon with something that will make you feel horrible? Stick with us....we can celebrate sobriety together. And feel great! !
BigS..thank goodness your niece is ok...what a scare. Fish tacos sound yummy.
angie....congratulations almost on 90 days! That's a major accomplishment.
Hi trees and peppermintpatty.
pooky....the bus always has room for more people who want to ENJOY a sober weekend. Welcome!
Gettingsmarter. ...you pig stories make me laugh out loud. I love pigs. Can't eat pork anymore (yup...even bacon...)
Bacon! Oh no, I hope I didn't start something.
Ok...enough chatter. Sleep tight everyone...see you in the morning.

Dinner was very very nice. We both behaved. When we are like this it's really great. I had seared scallops wrapped in BACON topped with hollandaise. Sooooo good. We sat outside on a deck overlooking the river. It was great. He drinks, but always takes it easy when I'm around. When I'm not, that's when the booze enters and he can get nasty. If he doesn't get a handle on that he will have to be out of my life. It would SUCK. But... I have to take care of myself. But today was how we used to be back when.

I've decided I'm addicted to solar lights, the kind you use to line walkways outside. I have several that I put in the garden amid the plants and there's something magical about them peeping through the green. BigS, they'd look good in your rooftop/balco jungle.

MLD, your dinner description is making me hungry. I've got my ice cream right here. As for his drinking, being with someone who is an active problem drinker while you are maintaining sobriety is tough. Brynn, Bernie and I can all attest to that. I'm glad your dinner went well.

I did find out that our British contingent is arriving today - cousin and her three children - so I'm looking forward to seeing them. They will be here a month.

Ok, time to get ready for bed. See you all in the morning.

Hi, Weekenders --

I try to be positive on SR.

Tonight, I need to whine. Can I whine here?

The entire right side of my body is whack. I think I need a hemispheric transplant. Specifically:

- I think I overdid it on weights. My right shoulder has been aching.

- Getting out of the car, I think I pulled a groin muscle. The place where the right upper thigh connects to the lower trunk hurts like a you-know-what.

- Bumped into the end table. Hard. Have a bruise and swelling forming. Hurts. Reminds me of the bad old days.

- The final blow? I got a weird charley horse in my right foot. Oddest thing. It was really hurting -- looked down and my big toe was at a 90-degree angle to the rest of my foot. A pack of frozen blueberries seemed to do the trick.

Thanks for letting me whine. I feel better. Well, no I really don't.

Venecia
Whiner Extraordinaire

PS: Hope all are well. Have a peaceful and sober weekend, Weekenders!

GS...the screaming pig would give me a heart attack! I'd probably be traumatized for life!

Mild...glad dinner was good and he behaved.

Mesa....I've been going to Ouray for years. It's one of my favorite places of all time! My in laws have a very small house up there (the whole extended family shares it...nothing fancy but the price is right! ) We'll go to Silverton, too. I got locked in the Silverton Train bathroom as a kid....fond memories. Oh, and my parents almost got divorced there once, too.

Looking forward to horseback riding and seeing all the wild flowers and breathing the pristine mountain air! When I was a kid I remember seeing a billboard up there...maybe around Durango (?) that said something like 'Smell that funny smell? That's fresh air!' That's when it dawned on me that I lived in a polluted city and I begged my dad to let us move to the mountains so we wouldn't die of polluted air. He told me if I was so worried to stop breathing so much!

Night y'all!
Xoxo

Oh no Venecia! You poor thing!
With all that I would classify your post as more of a controlled whine. I hope tomorrow finds you feeling better.

Used to be one of the worst days for getting through , leave work as early as possible … drunk within 1 hr of getting home .

I was going to go to london and drive this evening but i might do it tomoz morning as i feel tired and it's only 6am here .

I feel an early night coming on

Strange how i went from the oldest teenager i knew staying up till the early hours to now waking up in those early hours and like being an early bird .

This sober life is very comfortable and sustaining .

Onwards !

No big plans this weekend, but I'll actually be functioning, cooking, and cleaning. Last week I was still feeling really lethargic, but even with that, I was feeling tons better than I was at the height of my drinking career. This weekend, my strength is back, not all of it, but it's getting better by the day.

Most importantly, I'll be in the present, aware and awake and part of, rather than trying to sneak away every 30 minutes to take some nips. I won't be slumped on the couch, lying to everyone that I'm just really tired because of allergies or something.

most other fridays were just another excuse to get loaded. At the end there, I kept telling myself I was acting like a cat. I was in and out of sleep constantly, all day and night.

good for you notgonnastop. Welcome to the weekender bus and the other new/nearly new passengers.

Mecx the weather forecast is lousy for later today - heavy wind and rain coming in from the south. Plus Fridays is torture on the motorways at the best of times. I reckon Saturday sounds a much better bet driving wise

Morning from my home for the day - Edinburgh. Does anybody smell bacon....?

Plans for today are to have a brief look round, climb up Arthur's seat and then drive on to the Highlands tomorrow. Certainly no drinking involved as I am with my family who since I actually told I have a problem, are super supportive. Not sure what I was worried about. Oh... Apart from the guilt, shame and regret!

Good morning all,

Last day of 2-day work week for me! Looking forward to a quiet weekend pottering about the house. It's lovely and sunny here now so may even get to enjoy the garden. I might go for a run Saturday morning first thing and try to make that part of my routine.

Mrs B had a job interview yesterday and today in our new town. She wants to work for the rest of the summer. I'm not really happy with the idea of her working at this stage in pregnancy. She does not sit on her ass all day either: catering is a physically demanding role. Well, we will see how it goes. She is looking more pregnant every day now. I'm finding the entire experience simply amazing.
