Just got home and desperately want a beer.
Posting here instead.

Good plan, reaching out for support is always a good idea prior to going for that beer!!

What's been happening?

Good choice! We're way cooler than beer anyway. Tell us about your day!

Way to go. Posting in here is a great idea. Go for a walk or read a book. Just something until the craving passes. It will pass and you will feel better for not drinking.

I'm glad you're posting daybyday!
I agree with timeforchange to do something to keep you distracted. You could work out, go to a movie, or go window shopping at a store as well. Now might not be a bad time to pick up a new skill or hobby if you're interested. Keep hanging in there! I know you can do it !

H.A.L.T.

Are you hungry, angry, lonely, or tired?

Thank you for all of your support

Just come home to my dad being in a depressed and cranky mood; have a lot going on with the process of moving; it's my routine to drink so when I don't my brain just runs away with me...among some other things I'm dealing with right now. Always was easier to shut my brain off!

Maybe search AA New Jersey and maybe get to a meeting so you aren't alone, get phone numbers, eat a nice meal, breathe slowly and relax.....

HALT is an acronym for the common triggers to relapsing. Address being tired and lonely. Or at least one of them. SR should make you less lonely. Plan for an early night's bed and that should take care of tired.

Just don't drink.

Great job! You know how great it will feel to bed tonight knowing you stayed true to yourself—and imagine how good it will feel waking tomorrow!!

And the best part? It gets easier and easier as time passes. Way to go!!!!

I'm glad you got through daybyday

If evenings are a problem for you, what can you do to change up your routine ?

Have you thought of other healthier ways you might relax besides alcohol?
