Stay Sober This Weekend July 17 until .. Part 2
Love is war
MLD- oh dear that does sound complicated. 7 years is a long time to invest...Ironically the fact that you've given up on the idea of a relationship may just be the very thing that draws him back in...
But yeah, sobriety is the foundation on which to re-build Rome.

I've been off the first part of this thread--I fell way too far behind to catch up! As most of you know, my father died on July 9--and the funeral whirlwind in two states is now done. Now I'm just tying up a few financial things. Then I write thank-you notes, and it will all be over.
But today would have been my dad's 91st birthday. My husband suggested we have a celebratory memorial birthday party! I'm going to order up a few racks of ribs from a restaurant we like: that what my dad always, always ordered.
Afterwards we'll sit around (most smoking cigars) and reminisce about some of his notable moments.

Gilmer, I'll join you for ribs. What a grand way to celebrate and honor your dad's birthday and to remember him. I'm glad to see you. It does get super overwhelming to play catch up on the thread. This portion is shorter.
MLD, hang in there. Relationships are tough sometimes.
Day's almost half done here. Workwise, that is. So far for tomorrow I'm meeting a friend at the farmer's market. Then drop kids at camp, then a meeting at 10:30. Helps to keep busy.

Gilmer, that sounds lovely.
Mesa....I'm still laughing about the gun-totin' neighbor (although I know it's really not a laughing matter but You make it sound so casual...just a random little tidbit!).
(((Hippo))) hope your hand feels better! Ice it and keep it elevated if you can. Hope you get the insurance stuff worked out. It can be such a pain.
I got some new scented wax melts for my warmer today. The ones I had smelled like soap! And not the good kind either! The smell left a weird taste in my mouth, too. (And no, I was eating them).

brynn, you're having a lot of issues with confusion over the use of regular household products. Wax melts as snacks, Lysol as bug killer...
I thought we all agreed on Gain-scented air fresheners?
oh. I bet someone somewhere makes bacon scented ones.

Bim....I'm not as confused as i may appear ( ha!).
I DO have gain scented air freshener spray (original scent of course). These are the wax melts....still febreeze....but not gain scented as they were out of those

Sounds like a great idea Gilmer. 90 years is a ripe old age in anyone's book
MLD I hope things work out between you and you friend, one way or another.Sometimes women change and guys don't like it
Sorry to hear about your wrist Soberpotamus, annoying that the guy stood around like a jerk.
Mesa your neighbour sounds like a real pain in the pooper. I guess the one good thing is that in big old Colorado you have a bit more distance between properties than I do in London
Worked late tonight- I had loads to catch up on. Ruby, you asked how my daughter is getting on, she has moved to New York - I thought under the terms of the exchange she were supposed to stay in the initial job - anyway. She has a day job working in something called a designer market and another part time job working in an adjacent club called the Poisson Rouge. She is staying in Queens with a girl she met in Ocean City. I am always nervous of asking what she's doing as I half dread the answer
Incidentally my other daughter (the older one) is due to give birth in just over a week

Thanks guys, I already have a grandaughter (Chloe). Daughter has put off getting married until next year now which is fortunate because I have spent the money I put by for the wedding on the Lancia
Chloe too young to be babysat for a whole evening but I have looked after her for short periods.
My most useful advice I reckon was to get daughter & fiance to hold their breath for 2 minutes - a useful skill when dealing with babies.
I noticed that her fiance pushed the buggy with two hands, that's not right - two hands is for girls - for guys it's one hand + insouciance (same with supermarket trolleys). Sometimes I think I should write a guide to fatherhood then I remember i'm a divorced alcoholic
