Tonight
Thank you. Just used to the routine of coming home and drinking. I have a lot of stressful things going on right now and it has always been my dysfunctional coping mechanism...so now that I'm avoiding that, I'm alone with my thoughts.
Have you checked out interactive word games its pretty fun plus i was born with a speech impediment/stutter and wasnt the greastest at spelling so it helps me with that too Interactive Word Games - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information

Hi daybyday. I'm glad you're with us. I remember that anxiety well. It does pass though - things will get much better as you gain some sober time. I agree that staying distracted is the best thing to do. Posting & reading here helps. You're never alone.
C'mon fellow New Jersey class of July 2015 member daybyday71915!
Find some kind of sober distraction, exercise maybe?
I rode my bicycle down to the beach today, all the way to the inlet and back, around 16 miles...put my mind at rest for sure!

Daybyday...
Great job posting your struggle in advance of the drink. I didn't and drank last weekend. I have spent a lot of time on this site the past couple of days and the help from others does, for me, means the difference between planning to drink tonight and being at peace without it. There are too many positive stories on this site to keep me dwelling on my own self destructive behavior.
I hope you keep posting your thoughts. It helps us all.

Hi DBD, breaking the cycle in the beginning is certainly a hurdle that needs to be crossed, I can relate. Is there anything that can fill that void, at least for tonight? Do you like to exercise, read, walk, paint, clean, organize....you get the picture. I spent my time here actually. I did and still could read for hours here. So many forums, so many perspectives, success stories, setbacks, different DOC's, you name it. And for some reason, I find it incredibly interesting.
I actually should be doing some packing as I am in the process of moving. In the past though I'd always use drinking as a way to make things more tolerable - I need to clean? A beer will make that more fun. Everybody's encouragement is very helpful and appreciated.
