Just joined...Hello!
Welcome, 46 is a good age to quit!
At 46 I crashed and burned, I just couldn't physically recover the morning after like I did in my mid 20's. I ended up on a multi-day bender an needed some medical help to detox. I can tell you from my experience, that alcoholism is progressive and your body's ability to physically revoker from years of abuse decreases as you age. The sooner you quit and develop some positive health habits, the better off you will be.

I will, thank you! My only plan so far is to stay busy in the evenings. Soon I'll have to figure out how to handle going out with friends. Looking very much forward to all of your collective wisdom.
I am stunned at all these friendly welcomes! I have been around the internet-block a few times but I've never seen such good-hearted, supportive people on a forum. Already I'm thinking, wow, I don't want to let all these nice people down...
Welcome to SR, Margaux1969. Building accountability to myself and to others by actively participating in these forums has been the cornerstone of my sobriety this time. Looking forward to getting to know you better...
Hi Margaux and welcome to SR. I found this forum and it has been my rock and lifesaver. I love it as there is someone here at all times who we can talk to, with it reaching many countries.
Congratulations on your days sober. Stick with it, it is really worth the effort.
