Hi folks
Hi folks
Just wanted to say hi to all you lovely people. I'm nearly 50 and have been battling binge-drinking for the last 15 years. It's been tough. I hope to share more as I stick with this community. From what I've been reading over the past few days, you are all doing a wonderful thing for one another. Funny how beauty comes from suffering.
Welcome tooshabby! Hope we can help you find some happiness and leave some of the suffering behind. I was an every day binge drinker for a good portion of 2 decades myself, and I've been able to get back on track....so it is definitely possible. You'll find many others here who have done the same that are more that willing to share and help.
Welcome tooshabby!
This is a wonderful group indeed. I've found the more you give (post), the more you get. Post up regularly. Say what ever you want.
I suggest you join The July group (found here in newcomers). Everyone in that group has made the decision to claim their lives back in the month of July. You'll find they'll become your family.
I'm in April 2015. Awesome group of fine folks there that has really helped me through my journey. Today I am 90 days booze free.
YOU CAN DO THIS! You're going to find that life is way better without booze.

Thank you all so much. Yes, I wanted to join the July 2015 group for support and your encouragement prompted me to overcome my technologically-challenged self and find the group. Just about to join it :-)
welcome Tooshabby...
Ahhhh the binge-drinking cycle.... for me it was a really convenient and effective way to avoid calling myself "alcoholic" and seeking sobriety for many, many years.
So many times between binges I was able to provide myself compelling 'evidence' that I could drink 'normally'. Until the binges came more often and more heavily.... until they eventually blended into one another.
I'm grateful to be free of it now, and for you I wish the same.

Welcome to SR, Tooshabby. There is a ton of great wisdom and support to be found here. Hope you'll stick around and take advantage of it.
On a side note, I will be staring at your avatar for the rest of the day. It's oddly soothing.

Casey - Lol - I showed my partner my first post and after a minute or so asked him "What do you think?" Reply: "I'm still watching the elephant."
