Yet Again
😔 after feeling so sure that I had enough conviction to crack this alcohol addiction, yet again I've failed. I lasted a few weeks, but the craving was hell. I eventually caved in, not on a big scale but enough to know that I'm on the road to my old habits.
I stopped reading on this site which is definitely the wrong thing to do cos you forget how many other people are also struggling.
I just thank God that this site is here to help me. I need to rid myself of this addiction before it ruins my life. I really don't understand why a substance like this is so freely available, it damages so many lives. Feel depressed and worthless right now.

Welcome back pastcaring
I'd go back and look at your recovery plan - look at where you went errong and ways you could avoid those pitfalls this time.
This is an excellent link to help you get started:

For me my own willpower wasn't enough, my addiction would wear me down, instead support built into my plan was everything, something to keep me focused on the task at hand!!
Support I found was needed in both the good and the bad times!!
Go at things again!! Tweak your plan, you can do this!!

Hi Pastcaring,
For the first weeks, a lot of my focus was to keep myself physically occupied. There was a lot of habit shaking and changing that needed to change in my life.
Running shoes and good music was always useful. Filling my refrigerator with cold cans of fizzy waters also worked well. And I cleaned toilets vigorously, as needed, to feel accomplished in my activity. Nothing like a 'fresh bowl'.
There is no need to feel depressed and worthless for a minute longer. Staying away from alcohol and alcohol fueled situations goes a long way towards regaining self-worth and esteem. Stick around here. Everyone gets it

Pastcaring - I thought I was ready a few times, but my attempts to stop were half-hearted. It sounds like you're fed up with your old routine. We know you can get free of it. You're far from worthless - you're here to try again. What more can you ask of yourself? Let's do this.

Thank you everybody for your kind support. I will start again by looking at where my weak point was although I think I know. I will do this because I've read the evidence on this site that it can be done. Thank you again.
