Thanks Brain. I love that Bowie song. A lot.

Angie, congrats! That's great.

Mark, glad you're enjoying New York. I keep thinking of the Pace piquante sauce commercial when I hear that.

Thunderstorm rolling through. Yay! I'm headed to get my hair cut and colored. A little pampering and no children. I can catch up on the star gossip in bad magazines. Who are those people?

I'm on!

Haven't logged on in a while. Haven't been drinking just been super busy. Transitioning between jobs, doing what I love. They say that when you do what you love you never work a day in your life. I am gradually beginning to feel that way!

Catching up on posts! Y'all have been busy as usual!

Welcome new bus riders!

Well, I took the test and I lived to tell about it!!

My brain hurts and I can't even venture to guess how I did so I'm going to try and leave it alone and not get obsessed with it. I'll get the scores in about 2 weeks....until then I'm just going to enjoy the satisfaction of having gone through with something I've always wanted to do but couldn't make happen while living in an alcoholic fog.

Going to grad school was one of those things I used to talk about at the bar with the other drunks. We would sit there for hours talking about how smart we were and what we were 'going' to do. Of course, none of us ever did anything except sit at the same bar every single day of the week for hours on end making grandiose plans. When I drive by my old bar I see those same cars in the lot and it makes me so grateful that I found a way to quit drinking.

Taking this step toward my goal is sort of a graduation for me in a way. It marks a new phase in my life. A real step toward living my life the way I choose to live it. I'm realizing a dream that I used to just talk about and I feel an enormous sense of satisfaction. And none of this would be happening if I hadn't found this community because I had no idea how to quit drinking before coming here. Y'all are the best!!
Xoxo

Welcome, KeryJames. What's up for you this weekend? Any activities planned, or just taking it easy?

For the first time in 2 years I was "mildly scolded" at work today. The Internet in my damn condo went out for like 30 minutes...right when I was supposed to be online answering phones to backup some people who weren't working today. Why did the Internet go out? Because these old retired farts who live in my complex keep ******* up their Internet and then complain to management that the Internet doesn't work, so management disables the system and tinkers with it. Sucks that my work performance takes a hit because some old geezer wants to watch Netflix next door. Grrrr. Serenity now, serenity now...

Another ticked box for a reason to move to my own place, free of being attached to a community Internet system. The only young neighbors are on the other side in the townhouse next door, and they smoke weed outside on the weekends. Enough is enough with this place! Of course, I'm going to need to find a new place. With a fireplace. Rooftop terrace. Home office. Great view. Washer and dryer....egads, the list goes on! Why can't life be perfect? Oh yeah. Cause it's not.

Regardless, tomorrow's another day. Looking forward to ending the week strong. Off to watch some Netflix myself (which I do AFTER 7pm like a normal person).

Hi weekenders, today we went to the new OneWorld observatory on the 102nd floor of the new freedom tower. This guy has never seen a view like this before. It gave such perspective (kind of like my accumulated sobriety has done). Instead of being hung over every morning, I'm running around the reservoir in Central Park. This weather has been great today! Here's a shot from the top of freedom tower.

Hey everyone, I'm back. Hair looks fine. Too neat for me though. Iike the wild look better.

Read to the kids and was starving so I made some angel hair pasta with butter, garlic and parmesan. It was good but not enough. I managed to pour half the pasta into the sink by accident when draining it. Should have used my fancy pasta pot.

Enjoying the cool and rain. Heat expected tomorrow.

Welcome to everyone just checking in. We're a fun bunch. Well, everyone else is. They can gauge me.

Brynn, congrats on getting the test done. I'm sure it's a great relief. Yay you!!

BigS, deep breaths. What a frustrating day.

MNS, maybe a day trip to Stillwater? Can you swing that for a hike around?

I'm going to put in a plug for that link Dee posts about making a plan. I just read through it and it's really quite good with helpful information to think about.

One suggestion was lists of things to check off to remind yourself of stuff you must do. Or things to ask people to do some things for you, like pay bills. Which reminded me I have to pay my credit card bill today. I'm going to get socked with a late fee now as it's late. Should have done it this morning. And I have to do car note. See you all later.

Verte, I hope the head feels better soon.

Wish Olive luck. Sea plane trip was today.

Glad your hair turned out, Ruby! Nothing worse than waiting for a bad haircut to grow out! I can't remember....is your hair short or long?

Ruby, "Once Upon a Crime" is up for sale.

It does give rise to thoughts of a proper life as the proprietress of a bookstore dealing in murder most foul, doesn't it?

Hey Venecia! I saw an article in the Strib yesterday or the day before saying it was for sale. I was floored that I was thinking of the store and there it was. I'm guessing someone will buy it and keep it going. I didn't know these owners but did talk once in a while to the old owner. It's a special store. It would be cool to be proprietress There are a bunch of readings and signings booked through the end of this year.

Brynn, it's not a bad cut. She just blows it straight when the cut is done and I have wavy hair. It's about chin length. Long in front so I can tuck it behind my ears.

Great MPR piece. Thanks. It doesn't look like it's changed since I last was there 15 years ago.
