I just stopped in 4 a P break = thanks for sharing eh?

Mrs is hard at work and she told me so...

Not only do we have weeds, we have ants everywhere - as long as they stay outside...

Welcome RonMedford. Introduce yourself on the main newcomers forum by starting a new thread. Also introduce yourself to the July 2015 class the same way.

forgot what I wanted to say that really didn't matter..

oh yeah, when I was in Pakistan the rules were do not drink anything but coke from a bottle. And have it opened at your table. If it's open before you see it, don't drink it. And don't use ice, if it's warm, drink it warm...

Some day I'll tell you about the guy I saw take a dump right on the sidewalk in Karachi. Just walking down the street. Stopped and assumed the position - standing up and adjusted his sheets. Dropped one and continued on his way. No big deal, just everyday social norms...

Ruby, I don't you've heard of Shaken Mother Syndrome yet. Watch out, they're cracking down on it.

edit: Hey Ron, just hit the 'REPLY' button on the July 2015 class and say hello. No new thread required to get into class thread.

I am house-sitting, and finding things VERY difficult.

I need a new hobby - that doesn't involve reading. I am thinking of photography.

Yes, I admit I have thought about drinking, but I just can't. I choose life.

I got home from work a while ago. I have been looking at recipes and things on Pininterest and I have picked one to try out for tonight.

I have also been looking at beauty tips etc. I have made a face mask and I tried out this foot soak which involves (don't laugh!) listerine, white vinegar and warm water - all very relaxing but now I have Smurf feet

I am treating my dad and sister to dinner out on Friday and I chose and booked a restaurant.

So this is what my dad meant when he said you need a strong personality to live alone...

Tetra....let us know how the face mask goes! I love making homemade beauty treatments!
I love to read too, but it's nice to find a hobby that gets you out among people. I say go for the photography thing! You might even take a class to get you headed in the right direction!
And well done on choosing life because for people like us, that's exactly what we do when we choose to stay sober.
Xoxo

Thank you

Yes, my mother speaks French fluently and we go there a lot. If you were to ask me what's my favourite film, I would say that Amelie is my favourite film of all time. I think it's magical

Hi Kery, good to see you. How are you doing?

Brain, TMI. I'm glad that Mrs B is hard at work. I'm glad you don't have to break out the flame thrower. As for ants, I bought outdoor stakes with ant poison that I put in a couple of hills along my foundation. I have lots of ants. I hate them.

Tetra, I love photography. I have several cameras but lately experimenting with camera phone. Just start walking around and taking pics of what you observe. If it catches your fancy, take a pic. You reminded me I just got a new cooking magazine in the mail yesterday that I've yet to open.

@ Ruby2. Hey thanks Ruby, I'm doing good. My sleep pattern is still all over the place, but I reckon I'll adjust it back by the end of the week. I might have to do something drastic like not go to bed one night and then grab an early night the following day.....oof we'll see! Back exercising since yesterday.....Insanity all the way!! Killed me, but I love it!! How are you?

@ Tetra. Yeah Amelie is class, never gets old. French cinema is so vast, so much to choose from. Un Prophète is unbelievable; a prison film. And Mesrin. Both of these were shown in the cinoch in Ireland Have you seen the French series "Engrenages"? (Spiral was the English title) It was the first French series that the BBC bought......

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiral_(TV_series)

@ Everyone: Hope everyone's enjoying life

How was your trip to the city, hippo?

Just tried to kill a bug with Lysol spray. Didn't work but at least it's sanitized!

Hi gang.

Tetra, photography is quite fun as a hobby. Just wandering about with a camera. It's not near as expensive as it was in the film age. Take LOTS of pictures so you learn to see as the camera will. Study Ansel Adams. He has a pair of books where he shows a picture and explains the entire process from seeing to print.

two things I know to be true, if I threaten to pull out the mums with the weeds, my wife is out there the next day making it look great.

And when you call the gas company and ask them to paint your meter and gas lines and they never do, call them and tell them you got a wire wheel for your drill to remove the rust so you can paint it yourself. They'll be out that afternoon and you meter gets painted.

I'm not dumb enough to use a wire wheel on my gas line. But they don't know that Works every time -

The weather was overcast and warm. They didn't say anything about the 40 mph winds we are getting right now. Only a couple things were blown off the table outside and broke. I wrestled with the umbrella to close it and tie it up.

It was that bad. Just sucky. Essentially paid $30 copay to be told they don't take my insurance anymore (and we are talking 10K+ jaw surgery!!). Thank god my husband is currently in open enrollment status, so we can probably change over to Blue Cross Blue Shield and it will be effective Oct 1st. So, it might work out ok, will just have to figure it out tomorrow. I'm online trying to switch over right now and it's like reading a flippin' foreign language.

It rained on me on the way back. A car in front of me slammed on brakes ... I skidded but stopped right before hitting them.

Had no food in me until around 5:30. Raging monster by that point, lol.

Just awful.

I am so glad to be back home now, and trying to get over a headache and stomach ache - I wolfed down three burgers, yes three.

SoberP, what a bummer trip for you. Hopefully you can wade through the insurance crap. I have BC/BS HMO and I'm pretty satisfied with it. We were recently switched to the dental too and it seems to be OK.

I'm sitting and relaxing while daughter plays down the street with a few neighbor kids. Son just joined them. Unfortunately the kids aren't around very often so they don't play often.

French cinema, eh? Obscure topic for me, I'm afraid. Usually shown at art houses a good distance from me. And I'm not a big enough film buff to go see them. I have, however, seen Amelie and enjoyed it very much but had to wiki it to remember much of it.

Watering the garden now. It appears something is eating the zucchini blossoms because while Brain is swimming in them, I don't have any. I do have some small cucumbers though.

I have to call my mother to let her know she's off the hook for taking kids to camp in the morning. Mr Ruby's failure to go to work today may have consequences. Ah, well.

Deer. Bunnies. The curses of the home garden. We have a bunch of both around here. When I was on the Homeowners Board I kept saying "No!" to the requests for a garden plot on property. Now that I'm not on the board I would like to have one, but I wasn't about to be the one who had to deal with all the griping and the maintenance. You know the homeowners wouldn't do it. Or should I say, I know they wouldn't. I've lived here for 23 years now.

I went to the Safeway earlier and they had lost power. That's a lot of food to lose when the power is out. All their frozen and dairy stuff...why don't big stores have backup diesel or gas generators? Seems logical. Oh, well. I just bought some veggies and bolted. Warm yogurt and frozen chicken that is thawing didn't sound that safe to me, Safeway. I imagine there will be some legal wrangling. The General Manager is on holiday. LOL. He knows how to plan a vacation, right?

I ate a huge plate of chicken tostada with beans and avocado and all that other stuff, and now I'm stuffed. The good news is I didn't buy ice cream. . .or sweet nutty chocolate soup, as it were.
