Any older people here?

Hi!
Are there any older people here, over 60, for example?
Or, is this mostly young folks?

I'll be 64 next month. Got sober (for the second time) when I was 59.

There's a good mix of ages here. SR is a very diverse family.

47..... but I think, honestly, that the challenges are largely the same. Younger folks have longer to solve their issues, (hopefully), but it also takes time for lots of us to learn our limitations. My father, 68, is on this site and seems to gain a lot from it.
Hope this helps.

63 and holding. Age has not been a factor here that I have ever seen. We are all here for the same reason . SR family rocks.

I got sober at 58. Last May I turned 63 and feel every year of it. I could not quit by myself and at the level I was drinking from opening my eyes to passing out at night, cold turkey could be fatal with seizures. So I checked into a one week inpatient hospital detox just to get free of the alcoholl. I had severe PAWS for six months but no cravings because I was through and drank my fill before I quit. I am never going through the loss of self-respect becoming an addict engendered. Now, in addition, I am never going through another hospital detox and six months of PAWS ever again! Never! Not maybe, not with conditions like until I have a bad thing happen, or my life gets too hard. Nope, no way no how as the cowardly lion said .

So how old are you Jag, and what do you hope to gain from us here? I gained freedom from alcohol myself, with, as the song says, a little help from my friends here and for the first three months my friends in AA.

Oh thank God, I don't meet your definition of "old."

When I was in college a new band called the Police had a debut album called Outlandos d'Amour (which has since been ranked as one of the best debut albums in rock).

The album had a song called "Born In The 50's" which describes my age.

Got my AARP card in the mail just in time for my 50th birthday in November. I got sober right after my 49th birthday in 2013.
