Any older people here?
Lots of youngsters posting in this thread. :-)
I remember the day Kennedy died and seeing the funeral march on TV with my parents. How much my mom admired Jackie in the way she carried herself.
I remember when we had bomb drills at school (duck and cover under our desks) because that would protect us if the Soviets decided to do away with us. We were a bit afraid of the end of the world ("On the Beach" anyone?).
Now these are replaced by "lock down" drills for possible shooters.
Lots of changes over time, good and bad. Can't imagine how life will be in another few generations.

I started late, too, in my 50's, precipitated by sudden divorce/empty nest/death of parent, etc, all at once, not that that's a good excuse. Life is excellent now, no matter if I have decades left or just some thankful years.
All I know is before I quit drinking my body felt way older than my years. Now I'm back to the reality of being 42... although many days my wife accuses me of still acting like a toddler.
I guess you'll never outgrow some things!

I'm 49 and 50 in December this year, 50 looming has definitely been a motivator for me getting sober for the first time in 30 years. Time to get real about my health and hopefully hold onto the health I have for as long as I can. Here's to sober and healthy 50's and beyond.
Be well all of you.

I like my age. Baby Boomer, never sold out what I never bought into. Billy Joel and I grew up in the same area, same time. Greenwich Village in the 60s. His lyrics are my memories.

Apollo 11, the first manned space mission to land on the Moon, is launched from the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral, Florida.
My husband (at the time) and I were on a camping trip to Yosemite. I remember like it was yesterday (it's yesterday that I have a problem remembering).

Do you know what day/Date we first stepped on the moon?

This is too easy !

I'm 53....I'm just coming back after 6 months sober...and many years on and off before that..When I stopped posting, I started drinking..no surprise there!!! Happy to be here and want...I mean NEED to make connections.
I remember watching the moon landing in a small hotel room on vacation in Lancaster PA. My parents were holding us up to the TV that was anchored in a corner. She was crying and telling us to remember this moment..It's history!!!
