Goin to bed sober....

Means waking up sober.... Rested.... At peace....

So many nights in the rear view mirror, going to bed drunk... Passed out....

Waking to the blinding pain of a headache and the waves of self loathing.

But going to bed sober, we just smile knowing that won't happen tomorrow.

Goin to bed sober, wakin up grateful.

Good night everyone

Grateful for sure, FO!

I had a weird experience earlier this evening. I looked at my kitchen counter and saw a bottle of a suspicious shape. Ugh! How many times was counter littered with them.

It was an olive oil bottle that I neglected to put away after making salad the other day. Oh, the small (and large) joys of sobriety!

lol that's happened to me before too!
Why must olive oil bottles so frequently masquerade as wine bottles!?

0530 and clear-headed sobriety..... Happy Friday!

Great post free owl. And so true. Deep, sober, restful sleep and waking up clear and ready for the day is the absolute best. My #1 tool to beat cravings actually is to remember how amazing that feels and even one drink will steal that from me .

It's not just waking physically well and rested, but also the absence of shame and self-reproach. That alone is worth the effort.

AMEN!!
Awesome to know where I am when I wake up,too!
Pret crazy as its been a while since I drank yet can sometimes think," Wth did I do last nite? Welp, whatever it was it didn't involve alcohol!"

Going to be sober and waking up sober - two of the amazing blessings of sobriety that, when first beginning your sober journey, you can't envision or imagine could be so wonderful.

Thanks Free Owl for the reminder.
Sometimes that is the single comfort that keeps me from drinking. The awareness that I am in bed, the feeling of the blankets, breeze through the window, reading and remembering the point the next day, talking with my wife..... and then the guilt free sunrise!
It is an unexpected gift of sobriety.
Best

One of the worst feelings in the world is waking up and realizing you have to deal with a monster hangover and guilt all day.

Thank you for this topic. Some people do not understand the feeling of going to bed sober and ensuing glorious morning. The energy I have, optimism, productivity, and smile on my face is just too much to risk every weekend. Hoping I can make it to bed sober tonight.
