Good day weekenders,

I hope everyone is keeping well. May I offer a big welcome to any recent passengers.

Excellent words and reflections on the changing meaning of Friday and Monday K.

Congrats on 3 years BigS! Wowsers, what an achievement. And a big happy birthday to Grandmother BigS - 100 years!!!

In work, but using spare time to research prams/buggies/car seats/travel systems on line. It's a mine field!! So many options, so many brands!!! So many review articles!! Think I might go to my local baby store for a calm recommendation.

Planning on leaving work early today. I'm planning on leaving here for the weekend tomorrow early so we don't encounter any of the "cultural" madness.

My last weekend was spent relapsing hard. I wish I'd joined these weekender threads earlier, they seem to be such a warm place to spend some time.

My weekend starts in AA, I have finally realized I need to find a sponsor. Leaning on friends and family tomorrow and Sunday, having some nice meals in good company.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Welp, I'm in what a Pal calls 'Violent Agreement' with this observation:

'Slept great.....Woke up in the same position I fell asleep in! Love when that happens!'

So did I. My position? Horizontal! This is a good thang. Hee hee... Slept like the proverbial Rock.

Doing a quick Look-See on line at Aftermarket Car Extended Warranties. Da Wife is keen on bagging a new Ford Escape today. I'm doing some quick Due Diligence to see what's out there to buy later. Ford will try to wrench her Arm up behind her Back, and have her get their Warranty. It's OK, but it's just another Ford Profit Center, IME. I print out Dealer Invoice Costs from MSN Auto, and rachet the SUV Price down toward that after a few hours of perfunctory BS. A lil Book from a former Salesman I read Eons ago provided the insight to work them like a Fish. Make them invest a few hours in ya, and they're less likely to abandon the Deal. Take in only a copy of the Title, and Key. This prevents Power Plays in which you can't get either one back after their Test Drive of the Passat Trade-In. Eat a Meal before you go Dealing. Ad nauseum...

Got about all the niggling House Repairs done 'round here, since Closing is 1 week from today at this early hour. We Close, and head West to the Retirement House to live Happily Ever After. Slammed in a GFI Safety AC Outlet near the Kitchen Sink after some painful Reverse Engineering on the 1987 Tract House Wiring goin' on here. Unknown to me - and defying Code - there was a separate 'Hot' Switch adjacent that controls the Garbage Disposal. Sparks flew when my Screwdriver hit that. You couldn't tell which Circuit Breaker had tripped. On and on...

Repaired a Porch Step Concrete Crack. Sealed up with Expanded Foam some gaps where the Swamp Cooler Venting enters the House Sidewall. This Foam schitte got on my Hands, and is like a mix of Snot and Super Glue. Can't get it off my Fingers to save me...

Today is my 1.5 Year Sobriety Date... To quote the Grateful Dead: 'What a long, strange Trip it's been'... Sho appreciate everyone here; my primary Support Network. Re: Drinking -> 'Stick a Fork in my Azz. I'm done'. ~ A Former Female Boss

To go SUV Shopping on this warm day is a Marital Act best reflected in the name of this Song...

Wonderful to have you with use StellaP and even better you have a plan. Keep us posted.

CONGRATS MM!!!! Woo hoo!

So my nephew finally calls me back just now at the last minute. He said he is sorry but that he cannot seem to make the schedule work this time. I am fine. We made high level plans to meet sometime over the summer. Him and my other nephew together. We shall see. I am not hurt or anything. I have a wicked good weekend planned for myself.

Congrats to BigS on three years! Terrific! Happy birthday to Grandma BigS! A centenarian! Wahoo!!!!

Mesa, congrats on 1.5 years. That's great.

Weas, how long have you lived in Maine? Wicked good reminded me of my former brother in law. It made me smile. I'm sorry your nephew isn't going to make it this time. It'll work out.

I found the source of the slow leak in my car tire. Large nail in the front tire. I'll be sitting at a tire repair/replacement shop tomorrow. Hopefully I don't have issues with it this evening heading home.

Bernie, congrats on the upcoming edition to the family

Almost lunch. Day is roughly half way. Maybe a new fridge this weekend too.

Stella, stick with us. Maybe a sponsor will help. I'm thinking I need one too. I know I need more added to my sobriety plan. But I have to say, the biggest aid to date has been this particular thread. It's cozy and supportive. Funny and serious. Hang in there

Sorry your plans fell through, weasel. That's disappointing but hopefully y'all can get together later in the summer.

Hi wolfie! I might join you on the roof and work on my tan!

I have to do something today I've been dreading. It involves being firm with someone who gets easily offended. Hope I can find the right words.

Brynn, what I learned about speaking my truth is that gentle honesty is never wrong.

The other person may (and probably will) push back if they are not in agreement. That is okay, and in fact is a part of the process. There often are no words that can change that. I am often in disagreement with someone, and to say nothing if it is causing me serious harm is worse.

I love:

Say what you mean, mean what you say, and don't say it mean.

That doesn't mean the other person will embrace it full cloth. But personal truth will always come out, and I've never had a bad result in the long run - if I look at the big picture. If someone is easily offended, that is a form of manipulation - it keeps others from disagreeing with them so their little feelers don't get hurt. Then they end up getting their way. Yeah, no.

Good advice Bimini. Good luck Brynn. It's rough to think of having to do it but better to get it done.

Sao, how's your ankle doing?

Gilmer, thinking of you.

Evening weekenders

Congratulations on all the sober anniversaries

Behan I guess that would be the marching thing, don't blame you for leaving that behind. Senseless

MLD bet you can't wait for the ankle thing to come off

Mesa - this might not be the same in US but here the dealers have monthly targets so you can often strike a better deal in the final week of the month

Tube trains still chaotic plus I had to share the carriage with two drunk girls (of course I have never been drunk on the tube, much)

lol, Sao. One of those girls will be starting a thread on some other site about some crazy stranger stalking them.

I love that they're sharing the ear buds. Makes it much easier to sing loudly in harmony.

That really struck a chord with me. Congratulations!

My goal is to say the same thing on October 1st 2017.

So along those lines, we're headed out tomorrow for a first ever trip to NYC. Going to be an interesting week for this country boy.....lots of happy sober memories about to be made.

Thanks Bimini. I'm either a mealy mouthed pushover or a loud hurtful bitch. No in between....gotta find the middle.

I did my best public singing while drunk, Sao! I was always Posh Spice!

Have fun in New York, Mark! So much to see and so much better sober.

Brynn, I get that.

That's what I meant with "personal truth will always come out."

It's just matter of learning to do it in a planned manner, and not in reaction to the last straw.

I'm not saying I'm always able to do this - I've done both, too. I don't particularly like guilt that much though, so I tend to say it and mean it and not back down anymore. Someone trying to throw guilt on me because that usually "works" for them isn't going to get me to change my opinion.
