Good grief! I just checked the radar for storms before I go out (bicyclist):

"97.7 °F
Feels Like 124 °F"

Although I could also go outside and see what it really feels like to me. The front door is not that far away. I'm rested and fed and should be able to make the journey.

Anyway, I should spend some time off the internet today whether I go out or not.

[p.s. -- It's not that bad outside -- just checked. Maybe their heat-index calculator is busted.]

Agreed on the bird, Trach. That was my other guess. I've had everything but pileated at my feeder this year. I see the pileateds on one of my hiking routes, though.

Glad your boyfriend got back OK Brynn, must be difficult for people like you and Ruby with drinking partners (I suppose the flip side is that you get to see at first hand how dumb it is)

Toiling away at the Lancia "coal face"

I think the last time I posted a pic it was in a skeletal chassis only state. Well at least it has panels and some wheels now (no engine, gearbox or interior). Hope it looks good when finished

Just made a mango-orange-strawberry smoothie to sip on the deck. It's hot and steamy here- in the past I'd have gone for cold beer. This is so much tastier and healthier!

Ok... Everyone over to trach's to go bird watching!

Sol.... Be careful in that heat. No need to go out in it.

So glad you thought that was funny MLD.!

My heat index peaked at 81 today as I turned on the central air. Windows closed up tight and the blinds down. The soft glow of the sun peaking from behind. The coolnesss of the airflow. Sleepy eyes. Lemon fizzy water by my side. Zzzzzzzzzz.........

Sao... I love cars. I had so many over the years. One of my favorite was a white 280zx. Datsun. Red leather interior and a t top. Loved that car.

When do you fly back BigS?

Ha ha, I had one of thoe too Ken - in brown and gold (roman bronze I think they called it) No leather on mine, my seats were tan velour, nasty. They did look good especially with the T-Bar but for a heavy car they were too underpowered (I didn't mind - it meant I could get insurance) Mine drove like a blamange.

Sao... They were very heavy. Make a turn and that big front end felt massive. My stick shift always was rough into first. But oh how I loved it.

I also had a 72 mustang Mach 1 fastback with a 357 Cleveland engine.

Ha ha look at me all talking engine trash and sheet!

Ken listen i'm no mechanic, bodywork yeah i'm pretty good (imho) but everything else I need the manual and Mr Google - my job means I know people to ask too.

I'm showered now and am about to eat a pizza (at least I avoided the burger van this week)

STILL haven't had my haircut and am unshaven today - i'm going for the desperado look

I'm sorry that I haven't had time to catch up with the whole thread.

Okay, so today was a good day. The travellers have left and I spent the day with my dad and sister. It does me good to see how she is blossoming now that she has left The Loser. I asked my dad in private if he was violent towards her and he said "Yes, for sure. There was also some times when he didn't like what she cooked and he knocked the plate out of her hand". The sooner this court case is out of the way, the better. Sometimes she will say something to me and I can see flashes of the highly intelligent person she is. I mean she was brilliant at school and university and everything. She can quote whole poems at me and I'm the one with the (very useful) degree in English Literature and I've forgotten half of it

Anyway on to better things: my dad dropped me back to my Grandma's in the city and the travellers have left. I was so afraid they wouldn't what with the aggro over the tickets and everything. Plus my aunt has been extremely moody lately as she is having a very hard time at work. But my mom called and said they are having a great time. They arrived safely and my aunt hired out a Mercedes car - she loves cars and driving, she gets a new car every two years.

So I have this house to myself for the week. I am going home at the weekend for my driving lesson plus I am treating my dad and sister to a nice dinner out.

The last time I was left alone I was so stressed out because I would be looking at my watch every so often and thinking "oh God, haven't talked to my dad for about two hours. I better call now or they will think I am drinking". Before he left I said "when would you like me to call?" He smiled and gave me a hug and said "when you feel is appropriate. Don't worry, you are doing great. Keep it up!"

So I am going to enjoy this I have a bag of books and a box of new herbal teas to try out and I will leave you with this song as it is one of my favourites and it is on TV right now!

I gotta go and make my bed. Also I have to be in work early as the clinic starts at 9 am and I have to set up their table.

Love and hugs to all of you xx

Lots going on in the weekender family this weekend.

Gilmer again my heart goes out to you at this time of loss. Hugs!

BigS safe travels back home.

LB will be back with us. Fishing stories no doubt. "I once caught a fish thiiiiiis big!" uh-ha...

I cannot possibly attempt to comment off the cuff for as much as we cover.

You all are such a fun compassionate bunch.

Now... Off to lay lazily and watch netflix. I am not a wine person but there is a documentary called Somm. I want to watch from the aspect of those who can use all their senses as they do.

Night!

K

Avoiding turning on indoor burners today - grilled chicken, rice in the steamer, and salad for dinner. Homemade chocolate sorbet for dessert. There are fireworks in town tonight. I'll be able to see some from my house. Since I can't go anywhere for another 25.5 hours.
