New and Hopeful

Well, this is a start to a more committed recovery. I've been riding the wagon with one foot dragging , and it's not working. So it is another new beginning! I am sick of drinking. So I will come here to chat when I'm bored, depressed...my two biggest triggers, and hope to work through it.

Welcome, Ginger! Depression and boredom are triggers for me, too. Walking helps me move through both of those negative states.

Thanks ya'll. it's a journey. My problem is that I drank alone. No drinking buddies. I was a social drinker for years with no problem, and then 3-4 years ago I crossed the fence. Now I can't stop once I start. So I'm hoping this site will help me not pick up that first drink.

Welcome to a great place for encouragement, Gingerhead. :)

I was a social drinker too, many years ago. No way to go back to having control once we cross that line, as you've discovered. Good to have you with us - you're never alone.

hmm, sick of drinking, bored and depressed. Time for a change right? Anyway, welcome. As others may mention, make yourself at home around here and when the craving arrives to drink, post first. There is a high likelihood that someone will be around to talk you through it and you won't drink. Seriously, it works. Good luck.

Welcome! For me I couldn't do the one foot down drinking. I always ended up drinking heavily at least several times a week. Eventually I was drunk every night and my wife had to listed to my BS rantings about my personal drunken issues. I had to just quit, if only to give her a break.

I've always thought H.A.L.T. should include B somehow. Boredom is a trigger for me, as much as Hunger, Anger, Loneliness, and Tiredness. Actually tiredness is not much of an issue for me because I used to drink myself to sleep. If I'm tired I have no desire to drink - I just go to bed now.

So for me it's just B.L.A.H.
hehehe!!

Sounds good. Boredom and depression are big triggers for me too
