Ive slipped back into the darkness
I wish I could offer a magic bullet for every drinker, Bradley. I'm not sure exactly what keeps derailing you. But I do know that it's not hopeless, you just need to find the approach that works. Maybe AA will help you lick booze for good. You had four months at one point so try to retrace your steps.
For me it came down to admitting that I had to quit. Not cut down, not "take a break", not back off for a few months...really quit. In the years past I always looked for a loophole, some way to allow myself a chance to drink later, in moderation. Eventually my life became unmanageable; it wasn't one event, just the weight of years of drinking and disappointment. I'm not saying this is your probably but if you're somehow holding out hope of being a "normal drinker" then it's time to accept that you never will be.
Best luck to you, Bradley. I'm glad you came back to SR. It helps me knowing that others have been in my shoes.
