New Here

Hello, everyone. Day two for me. I've been down this road several times over the past 10 years. I stop drinking for a few weeks, sometimes even for a few months. I start feeling good and my life seems to be moving forward again. After a while, I somehow convince myself that I really don't have a problem after all and it's okay to "just have one or two drinks". You know what happens next. I'm tired of this cycle and of the problems alcohol has caused me over the years. It's time to put alcohol in my past once and for all. I'm trying again.

Welcome, Steve. I joined today too and it sounds like our stories are pretty similar. Maybe we can help each other through some of the tough times ahead, especially when we start thinking "Just one drink today." :c011:

Welcome! You just described all of us!!!!! I can't count how many times I quit drinking for a few days to several weeks only to convince myself.....see, I got this. I'm not an alcoholic after all. Hahahahaa! That's hilarious to me now because I was not only an alcoholic, I was a really BAD HORRIBLE AND MEAN alcoholic (but I used to be a fun drinker in college)! The first 30 days are hard. Go to a meeting! I despised dragging my ass to a daily meeting in my first 90 days, but I ALWAYS felt better after the meeting---like I went from being alone to having a football team. :dance6::dance6::dance6:
