90 Days Today

Hello all.

Today I hit my 90 day mark of being sober. This is at least the second or third time for me in a year (or two?) of trying to take alcohol out of my life. While I'm aware that this isn't my first time having 90 straight days of not drinking, I am not placing any big importance on the "again" part. I am accepting of what it is and working on what I need to do to get to 91 days, then 92, and so on.

I guess I'm trying to say that I am accepting the reality of today, which is something I NEVER could do while drinking. And while I know I am still very early in what I hope to be years of living in recovery, I am willing to just enjoy today. Funnily enough, I had to actually go through today to gather that information, but that's okay by me.

Thanks for reading!

Hi Rachelle, well done you! We are at a very similar point, I'm on 95 days today. This is the first time for me, I've managed a week or a month here and there over the last 30 years, but this is the big one for me, committed, determined, hopeful..........
Good luck to us going forward to a much better life.

Thanks, Melinda! I am trying to be open and willing about laying a good foundation. I have to say that I have really picked up in working my recovery program the past couple weeks and that has made an incredible difference in how I feel.

Rachelle,

Very proud of you! You're doing an amazing job of putting the right tools around you to remain sober one day at a time. You're an inspiration to me .. I just got through day 15 sober today. Not much, but I'm grateful for each day regardless. Keep it up my friend!

Rachelle! I think 90 days is amazing! I hope and pray to get to 90 days this time around. I honestly can't think of a single thing I would rather have. If someone offered me a million dollars or 90 days (to infinity) of sobriety I would take the sobriety.

Keep it up. Because you are doing it, it makes me have hope that I can do it too.

Congratulations! Day 74 here and doing OK! Always inspiring to see others ahead of you chalk up those mile stones. Makes them seem more tangible.

70 days ago a week would have been a big deal for me...a month was a mountain... Putting things in perspective!

You're right about living in the present. Trying to get inject positivity into even the most trying situations. The harder it rains the more important it is to find a smile!

All the best!

Thank you Serenidad. While I can't offer you a million dollars (that I just don't seem to have), I do think the universe is offering you a shot at 90 days plus of sobriety. The universe is offering both of us, all of us, that shot. We just have to remember that ACTION is key. You can do this, Serenidad!

Thanks, amp123! And a big congratulations to you on 74 days!

I was struck by your phrasing of "70 days ago..." When we're at the beginning of accumulating that amount of time, it seems undoable. Yet, when we can speak about it in the past tense, as something we've already done, we can definitely see and feel the weight of our accomplishment. Talk about putting things into perspective!

Looking forward to reading about your upcoming milestone of accomplishment!

Thank you all for all the kind words and support!

This is a huge thing we are all doing, and it is so imperative, I think, to have the support and understanding of others as part of our recovery process. I finally understand the phrase "quitting drinking is easy, it's staying stopped that is the hard part." Thank you, SR community/family/friends, for being a tool in the "staying stopped part" of my journey.
