4th of July Weekend - 2014
Last year I remember basically drinking away the 4th of July weekend. I was alone and sad and thought who cares?
This year I'm sober but I'm still facing a weekend where my "expectations" of what a holiday is supposed to be won't be met. I want to be with family, cooking out and enjoying their company and it's just not going to happen. I have to try to get these "ideals" out of my head of what holidays are supposed to be like so I'm not constantly sad and disappointed when other people don't live up to my expectations. Ugh!
I have plenty of things I like to do and will do. I will look for ways to enjoy myself and be happy. Life is to short.

I am the same way ElleDee... I have certain expectations and they are usually dashed. I hope you can find good things to do and be happy this holiday! Yeah, life is too short to be bummed all the time.
I hope you can still enjoy yourself Elle Dee without thinking that you are not living up to some ideal
Also there will be plenty of families that are sharing the holiday together but not enjoying it for one reason or another
