Day 2!
Hi, this is a continuation of my first post, which I posted 2 days ago while being drunk:
(I just found out I can't post links yet, but the thread is called Going to quit)
I appreciate the support I got there a lot.
Anyway, the day after that I quit. Slept it off all day and night and now I'm waking up in day 2. And I have NO desire to drink. I can't stand the thought of going another round until I end up unable getting out of bed.
My life was on the verge of becoming a huge mess. It was really close. One more binge and I would probably lose my job. And it would all escalate. I'm short on cash as it is and I tend to binge eat while being drunk, which I would get ordered in. Which costs a lot of money if that keeps adding up. And all of it would kill me eventually.
So this is the beginning of getting life back on track.

Hey Jerry ,
congratulations on Day 2 One of the problems with sobriety is that the difficult bit is at the beginning .
I found sobriety was a two pronged thing , i had to stay sober first , then work on and learn how to deal with life soberly .
Keep on

Thats's a good point mecanix, Right now, everything in my body and mind is screaming "NO!!!!" to drinking. I'm still in the phase where you feel so miserable from it, you never want to do it again.
I think the biggest challenge is staying sober in the long run and dealing with live soberly and not using alcohol as an escape.
But for now I'm happy I took a wonderful shower, feel clean and good and am about to throw out a lot of empty beer cans.

I'm glad you are not feeling the desire to drink at the moment! That really helps.
One thing in early sobriety that I had to do was not put myself in situations that would make me desire escape. Although eventually I had to put in place a way to live without running or avoiding.. first I needed a little time. So not putting myself in a position where I would freak out helped.
For me it was not having my mom visit (LOL) ... it wasn't a forever thing, but I had learned that when she left I immediately went for a bottle. So I needed to not have her visit that first period of time and used any excuse needed
That was just one of my many situations to avoid, each of our situations to avoid can be different. And it is important that they are not permanent...just till we get on our feet and start to learn some new ways to deal with things other than a drink.
Best of luck!

Hi JerryFish, good for you on 3 days. You may want to consider printing out these posts of your early days and putting them in a folder, and when temptation knocks on the door, just pull them out and read through them. See if that impacts your temptation or "AV" as its called. Best wishes boss, you can do it.
