Wow Weasel watching and listening to big waves crash on rocks is probably my favorite thing in the world.
Sorry have not been keeping up with the thread much. I've been busy dehoarding my garage. I can't tell yall what a huge thing that was. I know the keeping things was a direct link to my drinking and thinking that all the stuff was the best parts of my life collected and will never be good again. I used to be such a pessimist. Now that I have quite a bit of hope back, throwing all that stuff away felt pretty darn good.

Yeah, some of them probably were bigger tasks to be done on a weekend, Ken. But I guess sometimes I get frustrated with the rate at which changes are taking place, and I have found I can channel the energy into doing something about it, rather than waiting. Like with the bookmarks, I was so mad that I decided I better wait in order to calm down. As for the backups, that couldn't wait any longer. I've owned this external drive now for over two years, lmao. It has literally been collecting dust. I said to hell with it ... it had to be done I was dreading it because the last time I tried to use it, it needed to be formatted, and I remember I was clueless about that. Well, I got a brand new computer last year so this PC is compatible with it. It was a matter of plugging it up and selecting the drive ... and done. I mean, it took hours to actually back the stuff up, but it did all the work itself. Quite a relief to me. Now, I will have to make sure that my writing is actually being backed up. And that involves Windows, Scrivener, CrashPlan, and the external drive. So as long as all of it's working together, I'm good to go.

Great pics Wease you live in a beautiful part of the world.

Kids - when my two girls were small (mid/late 90s) .we went to Chessington World of Adventure. End of the trip and we get in the car to go home and pull out of the car park and into the exit lane queue, I glance in the rear view mirror to see my two girls and a scared looking little boy they decided they wanted to take home. Couldn't reverse or turn round there so had to get to the exit and call security. Parents of boy understandably hysterical. Managed to leave before everyone else worked out what happened. Monsters, all of em

Hey all ,
glad to see you're all doing ok . I think i saw a film about that earthship MM , seemed pretty good.
all i need now is the land and the planning and some money to make one myself… 59.7 million acres in the uk and 65 million people .. so i need to fit my earthship into and sustainable permaculture into just under an acre .. hmm

Well just called to speak to son. Who is answering every question with "I'm creepy". Then spoke to ex to ask why, and he is as exasperated as me and has no idea. Then stuck talking to ex for 20 minutes who was talking round in circles and apparently thinking of just leaving Caleb with me "for a few months or so". Perfect.

So, now going to go for a hike to clear my head of all that craziness!

There is an earthship house in Brighton I think, I remember seeing it on Grand Designs or something. Don't remember Dennis Weaver in Gunsmoke - probably because I didn't used to watch it. I do remember him in McCloud though

Good weekend Soberwolf

The U.S. has 2,379,964,800 acres. (3,718,695 square miles)

318.9 million people.

So we each get over a square mile? Hm. Glad we bailed on England. Of course a lot of that is Alaska, and it's not the most hospitable place to set up a sustainable homestead.

No offense, Mex & Sao...I mean it is Independence Day here and all...

I went to the zoo today for a couple hours, watched them live-feed the penguins, watched the raptor free flight program, saw the new tigers, watched the grizzly bears eat marrow out of cow bones and then jump in their pool. There are five ringed tailed lemurs, and they were really active and jumping all over their trees today. Fun.

Made it down before the traffic and back before the traffic. 30 minute drives instead of the hour and a half it took me last week when there was a soccer game.

Now I have all the windows and curtains shut, sitting here with iced latte and in front of the fan. I'm not feeling cooked dinner - maybe grilled cheese and tuna. That sounds do-able.

...and the first fireworks just went off. Greaat.

LB, I wish we had hoses that would reach - no joy. Prayer is my only defense.

Hi all. Famous last words: "The local volcano's been acting up again". Was just walking home with my 2-liter bottle of seltzer when I looked up to see this big eruption in progress. Thunderstorms on the way as well, should be an eventful weekend!

I feel sad tonight.

I'm at my parents for the weekend. I like it here sometimes. I have been making a big effort and I know it is appreciated. When I came home I was playing with my pet and talking to my parents. My mother thanked me for coming home. She says it makes her feel good to see me laugh. I know she finds it hard dealing with my sister and her ex husband.

Anyway I've been taking driving lessons. My brother says it will give me a new lease of life. So I went looking for my old learners permit. I have to hand it in when I get a new one. I guess the picture was taken a few years ago, after the second time I got sober. I look fat and depressed and I have such big sad eyes. I want to cry for wasting my life.

I'm in bed with camomile tea. My dad says just to take things day by day and look for the good things in every day.

Tetra, you didn't waste your life - you took a detour to learn some life lessons.

It's okay, no one gets through life without a few mistakes. You are doing really well now! Look forward. Onward, not back. Live in this moment. The one with tea and comfort

BigSombrero, holy crap! I live in the ring of fire, too. You're going to need a bigger hose.

Anyway I hope you all have a happy 4th of July

My brother lives over there. I can imagine what it will be like. We e-mail a lot, but I texted him last Easter to say "happy Easter". He wrote back "Happy Easter indeed! They seem to make a bigger deal of it over here".

So I imagine July 4th will be a lot of fun

You may get your fireworks after all, Big!!

While I was waiting for the pup to get shorn, I made up a bunch of stuff to nosh on all weekend. Chicken curry salad, swiss chard yogurt dip, bean and pea salad with Taylor Pork Roll. The chard and peas collected from my garden patch this morning. I was going to make no bake chocolate cookies, but I ran out of steam.

Ridiculously hot here. But the dog feels much better now!
