Morning Sao!!!

As for me....I woke feeling very much back to the old weasel. Very happy to be alive! Last two weeks have been off kilter. No particular reason but I know to be extra careful. But I think I am pulling out.

Oddly the thought of my nephew wanting to see me made me feel really good. After speaking to him. Guess I live without a big component to life. People that want to spend time. Geez.... I sound sad.... But no. Just when I cleaned drunk house I realized I had little of value. People wise. I have not yet found replacements and as I see it I just need to focus on me still.

And I have you lovely people.

Morning!!!!!!!!!!! Happy sober Friday!!!!!!!

Wowza...traveled all day yesterday and when I got to my destination there was booze on the kitchen counter. Im so glad that I didn't touch it. Cause instead, I slept well and woke up feeling good. Today I will enjoy the company of family and have fun. Clear headed and not sick.
Weasel...I'm the same way. Not a lot of friends in my life. I moved around a lot in my younger years. And when I drank, I didn't care since I was a social recluse. In sobriety, I'm making more friends, meeting new people. I am making more of an effort to be more connected. Better late than never.

Morning everyone!

Weazel - I woke up feeling normal again after a week of feeling off (well, normal for me at any rate). This past few days I have felt really unwell, but this morning I feel ok. Hope it stays that way!

I managed to fall asleep on the phone last night - I have never done that before! I am assuming the person on the other end just gave up and did not think I died!

I am planning on shopping today for Florida trip. I want some new sandals and a few pairs of shorts because I do not think I have been motivated enough in the last weeks to squish my butt in last years! Will see later, but likely new shorts are required! Am actually beginning to feel excited to see my parents - I will be on a plane in two weeks!

Be safe all

Good Morning Sober Enders!!
Happy Friday!

I slept in a bit, but not much. Going to take the dog for a walk after I have a cup of coffee. And then a whole day ahead of me!

I have very few good, close people in my life as well Weasel.
Part of my drinking, well, a lot of my drinking was to be able to socialize because I am such an introvert. When I stopped drinking, I stopped socializing.
When I started to eventually get better, I realized I was perfectly fine with being with me.
The people that are in my life now, while very few, are fantastic!

I'm not a huge Star Wars fan, but wasn't that, "Luuuuuke, I aaaaam your faaaatherrrrr....?" Or are you referring to some other part of Star Wars and I'm not getting it? I'm terrible with pop culture.

Then I laughed. Is that how they did that effect?

I have all the fans blowing in with cool morning air.

When you live alone like I do it can be tough sometimes knowing that you could pick up a drink any time and no one would really care which can be depressing if you dwell on it. On the plus side I have seen quite a lot of examples on SR where SO's seem to make getting sober even harder

I'm 55 and don't want to spend the rest of my life on my own, that might still happen even if I satay sober but it is a certainty if I start drinking again.

Someone contacted me about buying my old Lancia "as is" but the money he offered way short of what I have already spent let alone all the hours of work I have put in, so no chance of me doing that, i'm in for the long haul. It's good to know that someone is interested though

Checking in from the cabin. I too have been off the past couple weeks. Don't make or return personal calls, spend as much time as I can alone. Was getting down on myself about it, then realized the last three weeks have been very intense at work with me having serious conversations with employees most of each day. I'm depleted by the end of the day.

Plus I can't hang with most of my old pals. They only want to meet at the bar.

Big weekend at the cabin, parade, fireworks, picnics, swimming, boating. Happy to be on the bus.

ha ha Bim, I get it. Reminds me of many moons ago I went to the first Batman movie with my sister. A time later she went to "quote" the movie and grabbed me by my collar and said, "I'm Batman. Tell my friends about me." You got that right. But I think most of your friends already know what a goof you are. You had to be there.

Oh, in the real Batman he is dangling a criminal over the ledge of a building and the crook says, "Who, who, who are you?" Batman replies, "I'm Batman. Tell your friends about me,"

Well, all I have to say is that if you get an opportunity to see the James Taylor and his all star band in concert, do not pass go. Go directly to the nearest box office and get your tickets. This is even worth the ridiculous scam charge that ticketbastard adds.

There were a couple times playing some of his new stuff that it kinda lulled a little bit. But overall fabulous show. This man is fantastic! And the musicians - ALL TOP SHELF - what else would you expect. He did have his wife and son on stage adding some background vocals. Hmmm he is 67. His son looks to be about 14...

I witnessed probably the best version of steam roller blues ever! He did it about 10 minutes into the second set. Mind boggling - the only time he strapped on a 'lectric guitar. The visuals for the second set - awesome. I think there was a subliminal message in the 'movie' playing for steam rooler blues when a big steam roller ran over a bunch of full beer bottles and cans and crushed them sending the contents spraying. Looked like an old prohibition film clip but with modern equipment and in living color. Overall amazing concert. The only thing I didn't like about the concert was the "20 minute break" we have to take.
The band went backstage for coffee and donuts while he signed autographs at the front of the stage for almost 1/2 hour. The band was already back and playing some fill and he was still signing autographs. They had to pull him away from the crowd to continue the show. Voice is still amazing.
Wife's comment. "He was a lot better than the last guys (Hall&Oates) we saw." Only by about 100 times better.

We met my sisters at a restaurant and they were drinking beers the whole time. Didn't even phase me for a second. Ice Tea with lemon for me and missus.

Also, since it was the first show of this tour, JT and band used this arena for their practice 'room'. The stage was set up for a week and they were doing "sound checks" for the past 4 days. The entire crew had 4 whole days to perfect the set. effing fantastic production. Some feedback a couple times and JTs mic seemed a little low a couple time. Also the horns seemed to fade once in a while. Not perfect sound but pretty darn close. He interrupted the set to do one song not planned someone yelled from the expensive seats. His interaction with the crowd - tops. Wife commented that he was a really "nice guy".
OH, and someone from the 'cheap seats got half the arena laughing and a comment from JT. After about the third song he removed his jacket and placed it on the drum platform. When he walked back to the mic, somebody ( ) gave the woo-woo (long and low) whistle. Of course it was quiet and the entire arena heard it. JT told me I was too kind.
I was dancing in my seat some times and really into the music and sang along with a couple tunes. COMPLETELY SOBER!
Do not miss this concert! He still has it!

SORRY FOR THE LONG ASS POST

Ha ha BIM. I am not a fan either. But I do believe you are correct on the phrase.

Not for nothing but we have some of the most amazing weather this week. I will send it your way!

Sao.... I can so connect with this post. I can do the same. Often think no one will care until I have to be at work. But I know people here care. I care very much if you seriously consider going back. I would do all I could to make that not happen.

But you are correct. Once we see the balance in life between what drinking does and doesn't do then we have something to work with. It's easy to read posts and see the choice of words that we all know they have not quite got there yet.

Thanks for the review, LB. I was thinking of you and the missus last night at about 9:45PM your time. That must have been when you wolf-whistled.

I wanna go see JT. Sounds fantastic.

Don't get me wrong, I'm loving the weather. So much better than gray skies spitting rain like is the usual for July 1.

I was at the beach all afternoon yesterday - oh - then some guy tried to cozy up to me. ugh. I'm pretty standoffish with men who come on with a rapid fire of way-too-personal questions about me when we first meet. What's the big hurry? I finally just said, "Hey, go ahead -" (we were walking up the hill to the parking area) - and I stopped and looked up at the trees.

I've lived alone most of my adult life, so I'm good with single. It has it's downsides (like holidays) but I wouldn't trade it.

Hey LB... Saw Mr. JT here in portland a few years back. He is here this coming Tuesday and there are still VIP seats right up front. $205. Only about two dozen seat left. Good venue as its smaller than big city arenas. Anywhere is really good.

I know every song by heart.

weasel - worth it, get the tickets today! get the new album and listen to it also - some good songs...
I was gonna tell you to get two tickets and I would drive up. But it's the last night the wife works and she wants to go somewhere on vacation. on the 8th.

If it was the 6th I'd drive up, or the ninth - bring her along because she wants 3 things for her 'vacation' , ocean, kayaks, camping - I think they have that near Portland eh. Maybe I'll come up anyway... She'll be sleeping on the 8th all day...

Good morning, everyone! Slept in late. Good sleeping weather here lately. Been downright cold at night. No central sir here. Just window units.

My phone apparently didn't charge last night so I'm going to plug it in. Concert sounds awesome Brain. Sao, Good that you know someone is interested in the Lancia.

You are welcome here and would have a great time!

I do love him but I think I will keep my few hundred bucks.

The food in Portland is amazing!!!!

Going to central provision for lunch. Look that up. The small plates are made in front of you and some of the best damn food I ever had.

Edit.... Hell with that. Lunch on the rocks! Pics to follow!

Yes. Even with Air2D2, it was still uncomfortably hot.
But then, I am a gray skies and spitting rain type girl.

I just looked at my phone for today's forecast and it said 97*.

Then I realized I was looking at Paradise, NV (Las Vegas.) I have too many places bookmarked for weather.

"Air2D2"

edited...Vegas at 6PM = 108.
