Take two

Last night I made a complete fool out of myself at a club with friends and co-workers. I was wasted and took an adderall.... something I've never done and never want to again. I guess last night took it to a new level. Worst of all I disrespected someone I just started dating. We talked about it and we're cool but I feel really bad about it. Alcohol was the reason my last relationship ended a couple years ago.

I made it a week last time before I went right back to drinking. The only thing I know for sure is I don't want to drink anymore and I can't do this on my own.

So here I am back at day #1.

I'm glad you made the decision to stop drinking.

There is lots of support here. Do you have a plan?

I don't really have anything right now but I need to change that. I guess reading a bit here and learning is a good start. Being completely honest with myself and expressing my feelings is something I need to do as well.

Welcome back!

I had a night like that (only probably even more embarassing) that prompted me quitting. Then I had a few relapses, and hated it each time, even when I was drinking. They were only 1 night so after two of those I really quit. It's good to have a motivator but you definitely need a plan.
Have you researched any recovery options? There's a ton out there.. AA, AVRT, etc... maybe look into some of those and see if anything strikes your fancy?

Hi TMTP - it's good to meet you.

Sometimes it takes further proof for us to get the message. It sounds like you're ready to get free of it. We know you can, & we're with you.

I believe the acceptance that you cannot do it on your own is huge (I believe that is the medical term for it). And you are fortunate to have a very large and discreet family here at SR that will offer all the help you want. I understand you feeling bad about last night, but it has happened a million times, but it doesn't lessen the severity of "the problem". I wish you the very best going forward.
