i am new
I am an alcoholic, even typing that seems like a relief to me... I intend to do day 1 tomorrow as it is making my life a misery. From anxiety to just generally feeling like rubbish. I drink 7 or 8 strong ciders (8%) most days. I think I am stopping before i have done any real damage, but you never know do ya?
Just saying hi and i will be lurking a bit trying to get a feel for the place whilst I prepare to say goodbye to my "friend" who has nearly ruined my life, old Mr Booze himself.

failed today, big fail i know...
got a very bad itchy skin though and terrified its my liver but its just heat rash or shingles i think, no pain in my lower right side, which is a blessing, ive got everything prepared for tomorrow, bottle water, ready meals and lots of dvds to watch... this is just my way of dealing with it

Your moniker is justsaynonono, that's probably going to be the only way to get that day 1 behind you and on to day 2 and then 3 etc...Very few will tell you its easy, its not. You should be proud of yourself for recognizing there is an issue and doing something about it. Also, all the smart people here can offer a ton of great advice and suggestions. If you're unable to do it on your own, there are many other options available. And that is very helpful to know. People will be along to let you know what those options are and how to go about taking advantage of them.
Great to meet you justsaynonono. I felt less anxious about quitting when I found SR. I was tired of hiding and pretending - here, I could be myself and everyone understood. You're going to do this. It'll feel good to be free.
Congrats on day 2, justsaynonono! Remember you don't have to take that first drink no matter what. And as long as you don't take the first, you can't take the second or third or tenth. Keep on keeping on!
