yabba dabba doo ..
friday friday ,
get ready for the calling later this evening , you know it tells lies ..

kick it into the long grass , don't drink tonight , tomorrow will be tomorrow just get through today .. defer the decision till next week , just don't do it today ..

At the beginning i said to myself, i need to get through tonight, i can go back to drinking next week , no need to rush back to it , you know all about the drinking experience and what it will give you don't know what sobriety will bring … usually the very next morning i was glad i didn't make a rash decision imbibe the in-TOXIC-ant .

Morning all,

Hi Skywalker, glad you made it through the week.

I have a nice weekend ahead. Mrs B's mother is visiting us. She is a very pleasant, interesting woman. She raised 6 children by herself. She is very wise and does not rush to judgements about others. She values family and friends over material things. She is also a non-drinker and a life time al-anon participant. I used to always feel anxious drinking around her, but she never made a comment nor communicated displeasure. Nor has she made a fuss of my current sobriety. She makes me feel accepted.

It's important for us to have people in our lives that we admire, characteristics that we aspire to. This can be even someone that you don't know, a famous person. Write down these characteristics and ask yourself: in what way am I aspiring towards them now and in what small ways can I work towards them even more?

Count me in!

Not a newbie but I'm traveling again for work (got in last night) and I usually have a few drinks a night when I'm traveling to help with jet lag, sleeping, relaxing after long days, etc.

I actually work the next 3 days, so it's the anti-weekend for me, but better safe than sorry!

Morning everyone - meant to post here about my sleep problems, but made another post, before my brain kicked in!

I am up and about to wake up the mini-boss upstairs and deal with his usual morning grumpiness - he is the worst morning person I have ever encountered.

Trying to psych myself up to hike but just exhausted today. Maybe a day of rest is in order?

I have a possible date tomorrow. I know people say not to in the early days, but he is really cute. We are having a lunch date, so I am thinking it is perfectly normal to say you don't want to drink at lunchtime, right? And if it works out we may go walking and who wants to walk with a drink in them? Oh lord, I do not think I have EVER had a sober date!

I had a bad week last week depression wise. Getting back to the gym today helped. Feeling much more myself but can tell I need to push some more.

Good to see everyone this weekend.

I feel like I am in a time where something is going to change. Feel like something is impending. Not doom for once. Just good stuff. Guess I will have to give what ever it is a big push by choosing to be happy and not drink. Be open to new things.

Working from home. Lots to do. Will be here with you all close by!

I'm working A LOT so i've already cooked my healthy meals for the weekend so it's grab and go, I'm doing a Zumba class Saturday night and other wise my plan is to sneak some time to read Game of Thrones! Looking forward to waking up with no hangover and no panic about what happened the night before.

hellooooooooooooooo, went fishing yesterday. Long day. Fish for dinner tonight, sea bass and flounder. Still on ice. Didn't bring home enough for more than one big fish dinner. Missed a few, many short ones and 3 dog fish, one a 3 footer. The guy next to me one the boat was hammering the flounder - experience and the right equipment definitely count.

The conditions were perfect on the water. Except for drift fishing. Not a cloud in the sky and no breeze. Water was glass. So those of use that had to drag the bottom were SOL. When the capt parked the boat it just sat there. I mean dead stop lined straight down kind of miracle. Next time I spool up a spinning rod with some power pro and jig some plastic squids. Yep, "Honey, I need some more fishing STUFF."

Drove the last hour home in the rain.

My first fishing trip not drinking. Funny thing, as I was aware of it I was checking out the boat for people drinking. I thought everyone drank on a fishing boat. NOPE, they don't. Seems drinking a twelve pack on a day of fishing is NOT normal. Very few people were actually drinking beer. And most waited until the boat pulled back into the marina. WHAT?

So now I can add fishing on a boat and not drinking while doing it as another one of my favorite things to do. Yeah, people actually fish without drinking. AMAZING!

Welcome Angie! I need to catch up on GOT as well, but the show not the books.

Weasel, I'm glad you're feeling better, even if not 100%. I never used to notice things like that when I was drinking, I just drank no matter what I was feeling. Even though being depressed is no fun, it's nice for me to be able to notice what I'm actually feeling these days. Hope you get back to normal soon!
Just saw your reply- doing good so far! Norway for the next 3 days. It's fairly chilly and cloudy, but I brought plenty of layers! I'm amazed at all the Americans that are in this town. Seems like a far flight for leisure if you ask me. I'm in a place called Bergen. From what I've seen of Alaska (tv only) this is pretty much the same place - lots of fishing, moose, boats, houses without roads, and furs. I like it!

LBrain sounds like fishing went pretty well if you caught some stuff! I don't know much about fishing, I've only ever done it off of docks for fun.
Do you go regularly or is it a special treat of yours?

Good luck! I myself didn't date in the early days, but everyone is different. Nothing wrong with going to lunch with a new friend and going walking. Maybe the ladies here have some good advice for ya!

Friday morning in Guate. Sunny with fast moving clouds. Warm. Just stepped out on the roof for a cup of coffee and quick look at the garden and snapped this picture. The big volcano is currently under cloud cover, but the surrounding hills look nice today! Another grand day to be sober, let's do it!

Happy Friday morning!
Welcome Angiebaby-
Brain...you fishing excursion sounds beautiful. It's such an accomplishment to do anything sober for the first time. It feels so good.
Let's have a great weekend. We don't have to drink on a Friday night anymore. We can reward ourselves in healthy ways for finishing a hard work week. Yay for the weekend!

Welcome to the bus angiebaby!

Finishing up the last of the inventory count from the sale of my company. Very bitter sweet. Now I will only have 1 job to focus on which is nice.

Happy Friday everyone. I'm trying to have my daily dose of quiet before starting my day. Trying, because daughter followed me outside and has been non stop talking in baby talk.

Welcome Angiebaby. Sounds like a good plan for the weekend. Grab and go meals are great.

Learningagain, I have no sober dating advice other than just be cautious. Dating is stressful by nature. A lunch and maybe a walk sounds good. As hard as it was, my primary focus needed to be my sobriety in the beginning. Have fun.

Weasel, enjoy the gym. You sound good. I've had that feeling that things were going to happen in a good way. It's a curious feeling.

Site, Norway sounds awesome. I hope you can enjoy it beyond working.

BigS, I also wanted to say congrats on that offer to join sales. I think you are making the right decision for you by not taking them up on it at this moment. Things could always change and you may eventually want to but who knows.

Time to get breakfast for kids.
