My pig woke me up at 3 today! I think we are going to have to have a heart to heart.

Looks like Ruby would have beaten me to shotgun anyway.

Hey all recent passengers!!! I hope ye are keeping well.

Right, I should really try to do some work, but the motivation is escaping me!

Up and at 'em, good to see the bus filling up!

Pineapple, granola, and yogurt for breakfast. 6am coffee on the patio then back to the home office loft to work. I recently purchased a new router so I can get a stronger WiFi signal throughout the house. Been pondering bringing it up to the rooftop patio and working from there....alas, it's too bright up there and I can't see the computer screen. Need one of those thingys that you can attach to your screen so you can see it at all times. Don't have one. Sigh. Sober Problems. No matter, clouds today up in the central highlands.

I'll join happyandfree's weekend pledge: no hangover, no self loathing, no guilt. Just feeling good and enjoying life.

OMG! Love the party hats!! They do not even look too fed up. Maybe I should try hats with my cats instead of reindeer costumes?!

Well, my son's cat woke him up this morning, so he was mad at her not me - result! Dropped him off to his fishing camp and then had a 5 miles, serious incline hike - the hills were so steep it was a silent, head down and just pump through it type hike! I got home 15 minutes ago and can feel it in my thighs already! We do not have too many hilly hikes around here, being that I live on the shores of Lake Erie. It is overcast and cool today, a good thing for that hike.

Want to relax a bit, but for some reason the air pump for our 60 gallon aquarium sounds like an airplane trying to take off, so who knows what is wrong with it. What with the emergency new laptop earlier this week, now the air pump I am thinking I am in worse financial shape than when I was drinking!

Day 16 for me today!!!!

If you'd have been drinking those things would have still went wrong and you'd have had even less money and maybe a hangover and feel sick too ..
Keep on with time and patience things will change …

Hey gang,
home from work thurs afternoon . had bacon sandwiches for my dinner .. but i had bananas and oranges for lunch .. so reasonably healthy over all .

Get your plan for the weekend ready , we know it's gonna happen , in the early days you will get cravings .. what you gonna do ?
Urge surf ? get busy ? have a shower ? sit in bed for 1 hr ? do nothing ? come here and offer some support and rally ourselves through ? Phone an AA friend ? pray ?

All valid options .. The power to deal with this stuff is there .. you gotta want it .

My plan is to keep going with my hiking, as it makes me feel really good about myself, and not want to waste the effort and destroy any gains with alcohol. I have about 3 weeks until a bikini in Florida, so literally need to get my butt in gear!

Otherwise it is supposed to be a miserable weekend here, and son is with dad again (somehow our vacation dates wound up with dad getting most of June, and me getting most of July) so I plan on a serious deep clean of my condo. My parents are returning with me from Florida and staying a week, so need to have the place looking nice!

Sounds good Learningagain! Cleaning and hiking. All good things. I'm back from the farmer's market with a trip to Target thrown in. And it's only 11. I still have 4 days off to enjoy and I'm freaking out that I don't have enough time. So instead of doing small doses at a time, I'm panicking and doing nothing. Sigh.

LOL Ruby, I am exactly the same! I am always worrying things are not going to get done! I am probably going to nap after my cheese sandwich - for some reason I did not sleep well last night, took forever to drop off.

Did you pick up anything good at the market?

In addition to not being hungover, with no self loathing, no guilt - I am going to be without shame for my behaviors this weekend.

For MM and Hippo, swiped from Ann in Fluffy's Note Thread::

Learningagain, I bought a gardening hat which turned out to be 4.98. It's not the stunning as my avatar's chapeau. In fact, it's floppy but serviceable. Then I restocked on cat food, yard waste bags and yogurt.

Cute beagles! They don't look unhappy.

Not sure I'd be able to put hats on cats. I thought it was a major accomplishment to get a collar on one.

Sure Della, let's sit together: I got some really yummy cookies too.
OMG Soberpotamus, Lucy is so cute. I remember when you first got her
Dog/cat and human shaming has been around for a while but a new trend is chicken shaming

I will be working overnight but I have to remember to drop at the library to pick up a book I ordered before work.
Ken I really want to thank you for the service you do every week end for the community and I think that a practice run for the newcomers is definitely a great idea!!! The fourth of July week end is often a pitfall and checking base with other sober supportive people can be a big help.

Somewhat interesting news - I had a meeting yesterday with my CEO and the new VP of sales. I was instructed to give the new VP of sales some background on the company and provide some ideas, etc. After giving them a rundown, they both offered me an opportunity to join the new sales force. They want me to make the move, but ultimately it's my call.

I'm flattered to have the offer, though not surprised, I saw it coming a mile away. I spent years in sales in the past and frankly I've been happy to be away from it. I do feel I could help our company in this role, but I could do without the stress. Plus, with the sales VP being brand new, I'm not sure how he operates just yet, and reporting to someone in a new, high-profile and aggressive position seems unnecessary risky considering I have a choice. I will call the CEO tomorrow and say "thanks, I'd love to but my current role suits me very well. I would be happy to continue to help out in any way I can that's best for the team", etc. etc.

Also: a friend of mine in NYC called me down here yesterday, she's recently been layed off and was looking for some inspirational advice and words of wisdom. We actually met down here in Guatemala and she was impressed to see how I've managed to escape the rat race in Big City USA in order to thrive down here in Central America.

A few years ago, new job offers were few and far between! Choices were a luxury I didn't have. And, I'm pretty sure nobody would ever have asked ME for advice on anything aside from "what's the best cheap vodka" or "do you think the White Sox will cover the spread?". Every once in a while it's good to see evidence that my sober foundation has allowed me to build a character that others admire, too!
