Well, after the tornado passed (15-20min.)

I took a soul searching walk, jammin' 7/12/89 Robert F. Kennedy Stadium ... Rain hitting me hard. Tears streaming so the rain worked out LoL.

I aimlessly ended up at the counter of the liquor store across the street w\a 750ml bottle of berriangers white zin (which BTW the snob in me doesn't even consider real wine) Paid for it bought a corkscrew & went on my way.

Knowing mom wouldn't go for that; I went to one of my old haunts; the 15th green of the "party" course. After much fighting w\ the corkscrew; been 15+ yrs I've even opened wine, opened the "wannabe" wine.

Sat there a few minutes staring at it then started pouring it out "speaking" to my friend. Until the bottle was empty. Cried a little more, walked to the trash can threw out the bottle & corkscrew.

I knew at the counter I was safe cause I'd never drink that swile haha But she loved it ..

Dennis

Oh, the hours I've spent inside the Coliseum
Dodging lions and wastin' time
Oh, those mighty kings of the jungle
I can hardly stand to see 'em
Well, it sure has been a long hard ride
Train wheels runnin' through the back of my memory
When I ran on the hilltop following a pack of wild geese
Someday, life will be sweet like a rhapsody
When I paint my masterpiece

My name is August West, and I love my Pearly Baker best more than my wine.
More than my wine - more than my maker, though he's no friend of mine.

Rain comes in handy sometimes. Really proud of you for tossing the sub-par wine and also for taking a chance and talking about your feelings. Incredibly brave, Dennis. I'm so sorry for your loss.
Xoxo

I'm glad you poured it out, but I'm a little worried you bought it in the first place Dennis.

do you think that may happen again?

Dennis, we all care. :) Very glad you dumped it, but I agree with Dee - it was a bit close for comfort. Happy you triumphed over the temptation this time.

Can't say, I don't know what the future holds Dee; but the fact it was her white zin; I knew it wasn't for me.

As for the future; I hope i!m as strong as I turned out to be & I hope something like this doesn't show its ugly face for awhile..

Interesting post with a happy ending. I agree with what Dee mentioned, it sounds like your are flirting with disaster a bit. Stay strong friend.

I wouldn't say flirting as much as not taking control when I should have. I shouldn't have walked out of the f'in door to start with. Then to get a quarter mile from the apt. & not even have it register is scary.

But yes very glad it turned out the way it did. Once I realized the bottle I placed on the counter; I knew all was well ..

I would like to lend my support to this thread by saying congrats on dumping it out......

And Levon Helm sings that song the best.

Can't say, I don't know what the future holds Dee;
well....I actually think you can in this sense Dennis.

I thought about likely scenarios and how I might respond to them...when something did come up, I was ready...or at least readier than I would be going in cold :)
