SR and all of you saved me tonight

I returned from my 5 day camping trip tonight with much anxiety. My 4 kids arguing the whole ride home, everyone hungry and my AV going crazy. The closer to home we got, the more anxious and jittery I became. Home right at dinner time and nothing in the house to eat. Kids crying, my husband trying to park the travel trailer and button everything up. Had to go to the store for some dinner. I asked my husband to do it because I was in the danger zone. He was too busy with the camping gear. Asked the kids to come with me, they were exhausted and sunburned and wouldn't come. Driving there on my own I wanted to cry because I knew I was going to buy a bottle of wine. My heart was literally hammering in my chest. I pulled into the lot and sat for a minute before pulling out my phone and looking up my very first post. The one where I was hating my life and begging for help. Then I read all your comments and welcomes and encouragements. I kid you not, as I read a song came on the radio that began, "for all you addicted and broken, you're not alone." My courage was up. I ran into the store, grabbed some veggies and soup, paid as fast as I could and ran back to my car. Whew! I am now home in my pjs and safe. My AV is still going crazy, but I am sober. End of day six.

(((Faker)))....I can't even begin to tell you how awesome this post is and how amazing you are! Very well done! :)

Yay! Awesome news, and I bet you are feeling far better now, than you would have had you got that drink. I sat in my car last night about to go buy beer, arguing with myself...I won, alcohol lost, and today I woke up feeling really proud of myself and had a great day! You will be the same tomorrow!

Well done Faker! That took a lot of strength I can tell.

Congratulationss Faker! Good job on building up your sober muscles! :exercise1 The stronger you get, the weaker your AV will get!

Well done Faker; this experience will make you stronger and give you confidence.
Not to lecture in any way, but now you know that tiredness and hassle will do that to you, you can plan ahead to avoid putting yourself in that situation again.

Excellent post and congratulations. I drove straight to my liquor store yesterday afternoon and was resigned that I was just going to repeat the mistakes of the past. Just accelerated when I got there and woke up so grateful this morning.
Thanks for sharing.

Faker, you should be so proud of yourself! It was really smart of you to take the time to look up your first post to remind you why you don't want to drink anymore.
You will be so happy with yourself tomorrow.
You are an inspiration!

Awesome. Love it! You give me hope!

Faker 06-23-2015 08:33 PM

Thank you all. I wish I could say I feel proud of myself. I don't...yet. I think I will in the morning. Tonight I just feel edgy.
FeelingGreat, you are absolutely right about being prepared in future tired, hungry, stressful times. I think that is why I was so anxious coming home, I knew I would be facing it head on. I was thinking later, I should have just gone through a fast food drive thru to feed the fam and avoided the grocery all together. I guess those sober muscles do get a workout and you learn tricks to push through!

The song coming on the radio is what many call a God Shot moment. That or your higher power reaching out. Good job!
