To Author Mark Tuschel I say Thank You

As a newcomer to sobriety i have read several recovery books for help in addition to SR. I picked up a book called "living sober sucks, but living drunk sucks more". Its unorthodox to conventional recovery but it hit me like a ton of bricks. It has been paramount in helping me. I bring this up as Mark lists SR as a great recovery tool on his website. So Mark if you are on SR i want to give you a sincere thank you for your book. It has been invaluable to me. And your right, life does not become a bed of roses when you get sober (big misconception i had / one reason i keep failing at staying sober) but its much better facing each day sober.

I like his audiobook "I Quit; now what?" and also his podcasts. He reads them himself and it definitely adds to the experience. His perspective and advice are sensible but he's kind of a cool surfer dude, which is entertaining for me. He can be crude at times, so if that's not your style you might find it offputting. I think he tends to be more popular with the dudes out there.

You are right i should have stated that he doesn't use a filter getting his point across but to be honest some of the books i have read i felt like i needed a PHD to understand. I appreciate real life expierences that I can relate to. As well many things were right in front of my face and i guess he justs explained what i needed to hear in a way that i finally understand. St this point i'll take any tool i can get my hands on

Charlie,

Understood, I wasn't being critical of him. In fact, I really like his stuff and delivery style. Just thought I would point out to the larger audience that his style is not for everyone. While he talks the way a lot of my friends do, remember that this is a big online community with some people who are more religious or buttoned-down.
